  1. Good point. Are you suggesting that Chicago might still be in play, or that now that they own AH they can at least pretend to be listening to Chicago's overtures? Still think they are 99% locked into AH, but know that they still have to work with the city and the new mayor for the next several years.
  2. The blame, at least in this case, goes exclusively to Dusty. In his mind, the leadoff hitter had to be a 2B, SS or CF even if it was Neifi Perez or Rey Ordonez. The best hitter had to hit 3rd, catcher had to bat 8th, and walks clog the bases dude.
  3. Dylan Cease is an animal. I don’t even care about the resentment about the Cubs trading him anymore, he’s just fun to watch. 6.1 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 0 R, 10 K so far
  4. Watching the Cardinals blow a 9th inning lead to lose on Opening Day
  5. Brock has said this is only a temporary measure as the new forum is set up and they will eventually be public....
  6. In the Politics thread like always, though Sofa can always rant about it on a blog now using the new blog feature. You're old-timey, get your access so you can join lol
  7. WTF do they do to pitchers in Queens?
  8. The Cubs are 1-0 and the Cardinals are getting lit up
  9. After watching today's game, I'd like to revise my prediction to 120-42
  10. Sucks this is just a 3 game homestand, since the weather Monday-Wednesday looks nice other than occasional rain. Highs of 61, 69 and 68. Oh well.
  11. Cubs win! Cubs are undefeated during Brock's reign of terror, I mean, kind stewardship of NSBB
  12. 2 hours 17 minutes with 1 out in the 9th. So thankful for the pitch clock, now I can spend more time working after the game
  13. At least for one game we're sort of seeing how the FO intended this team to look. Solid pitching, good defense, and offense who can put the bat on the ball (especially on a cold day like today when hitting for power is a lot more difficult).
  14. So is beating up Corbin Burnes on Opening Day now an official Cubs tradition?
  15. If he can hit .750 this season, I'll be a big fan.
  16. Update: 5 hits in all of Spring training, 3 hits and a .790 xBA flyout in his first 4 PA of the regular season.
  17. Sorry but Girardi brings nothing to the table for me. There is absolutely no need for a 3rd person in the booth unless it's a guest appearance for 1 inning.
  18. Speaking of that lineout... Swanson had 5 hits in all of Spring Training and already has 2 hits and a .790 xBA lineout in his first 3 PA. Love it
  19. Since this is a general chat thread during the games, I wanted to share that I went down a rabbit hole of old NSBB posts yesterday, and in one of the threads you were asking about how to calculate OBP. Obviously this was 19 years ago and you have to start somewhere, but was crazy for me to see knowing what a god of analytics and good baseball takes you turned into. Edit: Specifically you were not aware that a SF adversely affected OBP
  20. I used to think the Brewers were almost gaming the system with how they built their teams to maximize run prevention. Now it seems like the Cubs are the ones doing that and the Brewers have a bunch of dumb fielders running around.
