  1. And in 2/3 of an inning Boyd has allowed almost as many runs as the entire staff allowed against the Padres (albeit with an error)
  2. He’s a Brewers sleeper agent! Allowed the Brewers to pass the Cubs in the division and now giving them a pass to the NLCS lol
  3. Seemed like a pure panic move to start an already overworked Boyd on short rest with several other more rested options that could be depended on all season, if not as good as Boyd at his best.
  4. Boyd on 3 days rest seems like it was a great idea so far
  5. It's that combined with pitching over 100 innings more than any of the previous 3 seasons, combined with his struggles against Milwaukee this year (albeit obvious SSS), combined with his struggles in September. That said I've talked myself into Boyd going 3-4, Rea going 2-3, and the pen the rest of the way and the fact that Boyd would be able to pitch game 4 on normal rest if needed and game 5 on extra rest. Shota game 2, Taillon Game 3, Boyd Game 4, all hands on deck Game 5
  6. Not a big fan of this decision but at least he can pitch on normal rest in game 4 or extra rest in game 5
  7. Everyone here seems to hate Assad but I think he's the best of the options. No sense in pushing Boyd who is already overworked. He can still pitch in Game 5 on regular rest if he starts Game 2. And your point about Rea and lefties scares me a bit.
  8. It really sucks that this was essentially a lost season for Amaya. He hit so well to end 2024 and came out in 2025 looking really good. Luckily Kelly did a great job in his absence but I would have loved to have seen a full season of Amaya to determine if his improvements were for real or just a hot streak.
  9. Anyone hear anything about Amaya's progress? I saw he was working out in Chicago last week. Reese has done a nice job this year but I'd love to have Amaya back as an option off the bench as long as he's not completely rusty. The other question is, if the Cubs decide to add another pitcher, which I think they will, who do they remove? Options are Ballasteros, Alcantara, Turner or Castro. Balla has the hottest bat in the bunch but is the most limited defensively. Alcantara would likely only be dropped if they felt Tucker can play OF in the series, unless they are ok with Castro playing there in a pinch. Speaking of Castro, his hitting has been terrible but they need someone to backup 3B and he has the most defensive versatility so he'll probably stay. The last option is Turner but they've kept him on the roster all year and they'll want an option vs lefties. I think I'd drop Alcantara with the knowledge that Castro can play OF in an emergency if Tucker can't play the field and something happens to one of our regulars. And then add Assad.
  10. What were the advantages of moving Horton to the IL? With expanded rosters at the end of the season they wouldn't have to call anyone up to name their postseason roster if they just left Horton off of it right? Asking because it sounds like the Cubs can't put Horton on the NLDS roster because he's on the IL, and in order for him to play in the NLDS someone would have to get hurt for him to be activated, and I'm sure a mysterious injury after Game 4 would cause some outcry from the Brewers/MLB. Maybe it doesn't matter, maybe Horton never had a legitimate shot of being back for Game 5. Maybe the Cubs leave him off the NLDS roster anyways unless they're certain he can be back by Game 5. Just don't see the advantage of putting him on the IL in that situation.
  11. The Cardinals won one since then...don't remember the year but it was against the Braves and they scored like 10 runs in one of the early innings of Game 5 to make it a laugher
  12. This is random but I find it funny how much more Brewers fans hate the Cubs than vice versa. Don't get me wrong, they've done a nice job of being a competitive thorn in our side and there is definite hate coming from our side. But just from reading a few reactions, this is like everything to them. They can't fathom the thought of the Cubs beating them. I definitely don't want to lose to them for reasons beyond our season ending if we lose, but it isn't, at least for me, like the Cardinals series in 2015. I was so desperate for the Cubs to beat St. Louis for so many reasons.
  13. Can't see much less from him, at least at the plate. Only one way to go.
  14. In favor of who exactly? Certainly not the guy who recently hit 6 HRs in 5 games and had 3 XBH in the WC round.
  15. Weather next Wednesday and Thursday is going to feel a lot more like October than it did these last few days.
  16. Padres have every right to be upset about that strike call but this seems a bit over the top. Colorful language warning
  17. So Yankees win means I can watch game 1 in its entirety. Game 2 starting at 4:09 AM local time is gonna be rough though!
  18. I was pretty chill Game 1 and 2. Today with the early lead I started getting nervous because advancing to the NLDS and facing the Brewers started to feel real.
  19. My 9 year olds were watching with me. One of them is like my clone and sure enough at the end he was saying “they’re gonna blow it” repeatedly. 😂
  20. This is why I was questioning why Craig pitched Rea in Game 2 with the Cubs down 3 runs late and the bats doing nothing. Obviously the focus is always first on winning and advancing but I think it would have been a calculated risk to pitch someone else and have Rea completely fresh for Game 1 (or if needed Game 3 today). As it is, he threw 15 pitches plus his warmup, probably equates to his bullpen day essentially.
  21. I dunno if pitching him on short rest is ideal considering his signs of wear and tear and the fact that he’s pitched over 100 innings more than he has in any of the last 3 seasons.
  22. I say between NSBB and BrewerFanatic, the loser of the series has to shut down. As long as it’s the Brewers that lose
