    Taillon now at 24 HR allowed this year, 4th worst in baseball. Leader has 27 allowed, next 2 tied with 25 allowed. Taillon has pitched at least 30 less innings than the 3 above him

    I can't settle on what is the most impressive part of PCA's season. Actually yes I can, it's his .390 (!) OBP, 6th in baseball. Dude had a .285 career OBP in just over 1000 PAs coming into the season. Now it's over 100 points higher! Just a stunning transformation.

    The Cubs have had the 2nd most situations in baseball where they’ve come to the plate with a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs, just 4 behind the Brewers for the league lead. They are 28th in baseball in converting those situations into runs at 44.9% of the time. The Brewers have converted 53.5% of the time, leading to 24 additional runs scored. Wonder how different the standings would be if the Cubs were converting at the rate the Brewers are (which is only slightly above league average).

    Just had to get a runner home from 3rd with 1 out. Kind of funny that the Cubs have so many walk offs but also have tremendous difficulty all season putting a ball in play with a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs.

    Despite missing 6 weeks, Taillon has moved into a tie for 4th with Shota for most HRs allowed this season with 22.

    The cost of Lewandowski was apparently the MLS's current Golden Boot leader, Hugo Cuypers as he was just transferred to Monterrey. A lot of Fire fans are pissed about this trade off.

    That was setting up to be an extremely annoying 9th inning until the Twins botched it away. IF single off the pitchers arm, soft single beating the shift, double into the gap that no other OF would have gotten close to but PCA just missed it and deflected the ball away from him. I’ll take it!

    Bregman 0-7 with 4 K and a BB these last 2 games. Was definitely worried that the break would cool him off after finally getting some positive momentum.

    You're not wrong, I just think it's funny the examples you used for the Cubs are a former all-star with a career OPS+ of 116 and a former 1st round pick (both of them actually are former 1st round picks). Your point is accurate, many teams pick up lesser thought of players and turn them into contributors. The Cubs have a type too, and when they acquire a crappy pitcher, we assume they see something in them that fits their pitching philosophy and can potentially be fixed. The Brewers definitely seem to be above average at doing this but not to the point where we should be immediately worried about Colton Gordon being the next scrapheap superstar for the Brewers.

    England really is the Charlie Brown of soccer. They rarely just lose in major tournaments, they find the most painful ways to go out.
