  1. I think there are scenarios where the Cubs end up in a 3 team tiebreaker with Arizona and the Mets that the Cubs haven’t locked in yet so technically they can’t clinch tonight. Like if all 3 teams tied, there’s a possibility that ARI/NYM are WC2 and WC3 and the Cubs are eliminated.
  2. There seems to be this invisible barrier the Cubs have at 4 runs that won’t let them score anymore. Once a week they are given permission to cross that threshold
  3. Of course this is the first inning of Skenes vs Horton also has Willi Castro ever played a ball off the wall before? That was awful and probably cost them a run and Cruz an extra base
  4. I was saying this back when PCA, Tucker and Busch were still good. We weren't as good earlier in the year against LHP but we were still good/above average vs. LHP.
  5. Dont chastise me for this, but I'm a ninny and want to avoid the possibility of losing a playoff series to the Brewers. I was completely fine with facing the Cardinals in 2015 even though I still hate them more, but for some reason can't handle the idea of losing to the Brewers. It's inarguable that it's the preferable matchup though over the Phillies. They're are a tough matchup for us.
  6. This seems bad for Swift
  7. Yeah I watched that awhile ago. Really cool of Jordan to volunteer to be interviewed for it.
  8. Looking at the tiebreaker with SD, Cubs are 25-18 (.581) vs the Central and Padres are 29-20 (.590) vs West. Cubs have 9 games left against division foes (2 at PIT, 4 at CIN, 3 vs STL) and Padres just 3 left (at ARI) But we’re getting down to a number of games left where if the Cubs collapse they aren’t gonna win the tiebreaker anyways, and if they get hot and win the tiebreaker they are finishing ahead of SD.
  9. New high water mark! Still struggling to break the 4 run ceiling but finding ways to win
  10. Bottom of the 9th, Hodge has gotten into a jam and the broadcast team is yucking it up about some skyscraper in downtown Pittsburgh
  11. That would be my guess, considering in the same interview he mentioned gaining trust in Burden and giving him more packages in the next game. Plus the ongoing pointing out of his body language and concerns about effort.
  12. So Busch pulls into the team lead with 28 HR tied with PCA and 1 ahead of Seiya. Will any of them get to 30? Seemed destined to have 3-4 hit 30 at one point.
  13. If you gave me 3 guesses on who he's referring to, I'd only need 1 of them.
  14. FWIW Johnson just had a press conference and he said the groin injury is unrelated to the previous groin injury (which...lol)
  15. Darn if only the Charlie Kirk prophecies came true. (just kidding, stay dead)
  16. CB1 with Kyler and Jaylon out:
  17. I used to work at a company that hired a lot of people from Western Michigan and they were all Detroit fans and they were so unbelievably obnoxious. I think there's an inferiority complex going on there.
  18. Probably a function of the personnel they had on the field. The secondary needed all the help they could get? I guess its a matter of choosing which one burns you less...
  19. When Jaylon Johnson went down the Bears had stopped the Lions from scoring on 3 of their 5 possessions. 131 yards on 5 drives After he left, the Lions scored on their last 6 drives with the starting offensive in the game (5 TDs, 1 FG). 375 yards on 6 drives. I'm not saying it's all on him leaving but he's your best defensive player and plays a position the Bears are very thin at with Kyler out also. Feels like the damn kind of broke after he left. Unfortunately, I'm expecting Johnson to be gone for a significant period of time considering he re-aggrivated the groin injury that kept him out for 2 months (all of training camp and preseason and week 1). Edwards also re-aggrivated his injury. It's going to be a long season.
  20. I just can’t believe the length and depth of this slump. Our 4 best hitters in the first half have seemingly all been awful in the second half with no signs of life (at least with PCA and Seiya). It’s night and day from the first half and I’m just so confused as to why we can’t get it on track. Thankfully Nico and Happ have helped to keep us afloat as much as possible but I’m losing hope that we’re even going to reach a middle ground between the pre-ASB and post-ASB offense
  21. I forgot how annoying Detroit sports fans were. My newish manager who is an obsessive Lions fans pings the team first thing today saying "Happy Monday Bears fans, Bear down! I bet Ben Johnson called Dan Campbell last night crying 'ive made a huge mistake, please take me back' " So close to being triggered lol
  22. They have the Saints too which seems winnable. It's really the road games that are the gauntlet. Washington, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Minnesota, Philadelphia, Green Bay, San Francisco. The Vikings might end up being bad but going back to last season, we've played almost a relentless gauntlet of teams. 11-6 Packers 14-3 Vikings 15-2 Lions 6-10 49ers 14-3 Vikings 15-2 Lions 10-7 Seahawks 11-6 Packers Then Vikings and Lions this year....too early to tell how good they are, the Vikings might be ass but still very similar to the team that went 14-3 outside of QB. Lions similar squad outside of their coordinators.
  23. Why is Warren the consensus immediate impact player? Loveland had 3 years of production at Michigan vs 1 for Warren. His shoulder injury kept him out of OTAs but he participated in all of training camp and was on the field with the 1's during practices and both preseason games they played in. He left when the 1's left in those games. It doesn't seem like the injury did not set him back a ton when it came to preparing for the season based on usage. I know you hate Michigan and all that but perhaps wait more than 2 games before using your confirmation bias to proclaim definitively how stupid the pick was. The entire offense is a work in progress and Caleb has historically not been great at throwing to TEs. Kmet had his lowest production since his rookie year last year and had 5 total targets his last 5 games of 2024 despite playing 93% of the snaps. His leading TEs at USC caught 26 passes and 10 passes in 2023 and 2022 (vs. 54 for Loveland last year in 10 games). I highly doubt Warren has 11 catches for 155 yards in his first 2 games if he was drafted by the Bears.
