    The Cardinals have scored 26 runs in their last 13 innings. 8 in the last 3 innings on Thursday, 17 in 9 yesterday and 1 so far in the 1st today.

    Damn, gonna be 100 degrees in Philly for the France-Paraguay game. I'm sure France's talent and depth will win out but maybe gives Paraguay a slightly higher chance? Like 1%

    It’s both I think. The altitude is obviously a big deal but also it’s CONCACAF craziness. I’m not saying England doesn’t have to deal with some interesting atmospheres in some UEFA countries but England playing at Azteca feels like a fish out of water. on the other hand you’re right that most of their competitive games there are against CONCACAF minnows. And while the US has never won a legitimate competitive match there, they are technically undefeated in their last 4 games there (1 win, 3 draws). So yeah I get it, Azteca mystique is probably bigger than their actual advantage, but England playing there also feels very interesting. We’ll see how it goes, either way it’s one of the more intriguing games I can remember in years.

    England is clearly the better team. I think the doubting them at Azteca has to do with the fact that everyone expects them to have an epic choke at some point since that's what they're known for (similar to the 2016 Cubs, that's their label until they prove otherwise), and playing a host country at a notoriously difficult place for opponents seems like an reasonably likely place for it to happen. But like I said earlier, it could definitely be one of those things where people overthink it, then the game starts and you realized you shouldn't have doubted the clearly more talented team.

    Obviously thrilled we won but it’s bittersweet because we saw how much Balogun was affecting the game when he was in. We can win with Pepi up top but we’re gonna have to alter our tactics a bit to account for both having someone quite as dynamic finishing for you.

    So Belgium is down 2 late to Senegal. The US recently beat Senegal in a pre-WC friendly for whatever that's worth, but Belgium seems old and slow, something our team should hypothetically be able to exploit. Not sure if its a good thing or bad thing for Senegal to go through if we're able to advance tonight.

    The Cubs have had innings today where they've scored: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 8 runs

    The Cubs have 15 runs on 10 hits and 6 walks. Much better than a couple weeks ago when we were saying they have like 2 runs with 14 baserunners

    Yeah, I've been through 35 baseball seasons or so, definitely understand there are peaks and valleys. I just don't remember past Cubs teams having such tall peaks and low valleys that extend as long as they seem to do. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like it's a hallmark of this core of players.
