  1. Anyone see that commercial where Lasorda talks the Cubs fan out of a tree to go watch the MLB playoffs? Thats how I feel like right now. Edit: I feel like that every year
  2. i saw it on sportscenter. pretty funny. Maybe they got some advice for playoff games from Kevin Millar
  3. Think all these players want to stick it to the fans for blaming Dusty for the teams struggles and forcing him out the door? Good, if they don't want to be Cubs, let them leave. It might set us back a year or two, but starting over might not be a bad idea IMO. Of course with his job on the line JH won't start over, he'll just lock us into a bunch of mediocre players longterm in order to try to win now. Seriously though, its the freaking manager. If you aren't going to come back because you might have to hustle or be held accountable for your actions, then please leave. I don't care if you are ARam or Pierre (Not Z, you have to stay).
  4. Is it just me or did the Onion really miss the funny there? Canabilization?
  5. Wait that play really happened? I thought I was just playing MVP and misjudged a fly ball
  6. I would do a lot of bad and evil things for Vernon Wells to be on the Cubs
  7. Man the Bears.com boards are funny. Bills fans invading. Reminds me of the old ESPN boards.
  8. Well this game is playing a lot like the last one. Isn't it funny that the Twins could be one loss from elimination before the Mets and Dodgers even play their first game?
  9. Another positive Cubs statistic: Number of Cubs games remaining to be played: 0 Number of Dusty Bakers currently managing the team: 0
  10. You grabbed that extra one for me right? ;)
  11. In past offseasons, was Larry helping out Prior and Wood rehab from their various injuries? If not, who was responsible for that or were the just working out with their own trainers?
  12. A couple of Bears/Bills pictures. Again, not a lot available online since these teams do not play all that often. http://mk23.image.pbase.com/u17/rrawzz/large/5452257.02ItsUp.jpg Mike Brown flattening a player http://www.pbase.com/rrawzz/pancake This was Adrian Peterson scoring the game winning touchdown last preseason against the Bills http://chicago.comcastsportsnet.com/images/content/bears/peterson826a.jpg What we will see on Sunday http://www.netsport-magazine.com/archives/images/week10_06.jpg
  13. Yikes, anyone know a way to record this aside from tapes? I'd like to record this for later listening on a long trip I am taking. . Will there be an intersection between Girardi and McDonough or will they move from one straight to the other I wonder? Seems pretty close. What would make GREAT radio is if he interviews for the managerial position on the air :)
  14. Wow thats a great lineup tonight. I am very interested in all of those topics.
  15. Every GM has a list of potential replacements no matter how solid his current manager is. If Hendry didn't have a list of at least 5 names to replace Dusty back in July that he deserves to get fired after it takes him 3 months to hire a manager and allows other teams to grab up all the FAs
  16. If the Cubs are sold over the offseason, that could prove to be disasterous to 2007 prospects. The last thing a team looking to sell would do is add payroll
  17. Did anyone learn from Bartman? Punto almost got robbed by an overzealous fan. Great catch though
  18. Once again, Jimbo doesn't get his first choice. (my assumption based on what has been speculated in the media) Let's hope Lou isn't #2
  19. WGN has very Pro-Dusty coverage, even finding 2 fans that were for Dusty to interview
  20. This will very very very likely be carried on Comcast Sports net. This is the kinda stuff that Comcast pledged to carry. Also, they normally are showing Comcast Sports highlight shows during the noon hour so its likely they will show the PC Edit: and according to Comcast's website, it will be shown in entirity http://chicago.comcastsportsnet.com/view_content_0p.asp?ID=37938
  21. Unbelievable, Skip Bayless is talking about how he is not sold on Rex Grossman yet and saying that Chicago has an easy schedule, etc and using Shaun Alexander as the reason the Seahawks lost I have always hated Skip and his grudge against Chicago. It's really personal, I have no idea why he left Chicago but I'm glad he did
  22. I read somewhere that there is a 95% chance that the Bears/Giants matchup will be picked up by NBC. I hope they picked up the Bears/Pats game too because I'll be there, but I don't think they will have the Bears on 2 times in 3 weeks. Also, there might be a limit to the number of prime time games a team is allowed to have, and they already have 1 SNF and 2 MNF games. Also another candidate for a SNF game is the Bears/Packers, with it being potentially Favre's last game and the Bears going for 16-0 (;))
  23. I definitely was not a fan of either Pierre's or Jacques comments, but it was mostly the tone that they were said in. I don't think Pierre will come back and Jacque will be one unhappy camper if he is not unloaded.
  24. HA! It might have felt cool and inspiring to be in 5th place, but now that the season is over, we are the true winners. Bah, what am I talking about, we'll probably blow our pick anyways. And if we don't, we'll ruin his arm (because you know it will be a pitcher!) In other news, all the prospective pitchers in next years draft have withdrawn from the draft.
