  1. I would say barring injury he wouldn't be up until roster expansion. But thats just my guess. I think they are trying to convert him to an OF.
  2. Should I vote for the guy who knocked me out, or Jon who is a fantastic poster in his own right?
  3. It's a matter of whether you vote on All Stars based on the entire current season that they are having or whether you vote on All Stars based on the most talented players in the game. No one really knows why Z sucked in April and May. But everyone knows that Carlos is one of the most talent pitchers in the game when his head is on straight. Here are the numbers for his last 5 starts: 4-1, 1.43 ERA, 0.82 WHIP, 43K, 10.3 K/9IP Carlos has All Star talent. Do I think Chris Young deserves it over Z? Yes. But would I think its unjust if Z got voted in? no.
  4. We were screwed the day that Hendry decided that he liked guys that can catch the ball* (*Hendry is also a poor talent evaluator)
  5. I guarentee you Young will make it unless we really push hard. It would be really hard for the average fan, by mearly looking at the numbers to not vote Young.
  6. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2922500 Weird. Must have been some clubhouse turmoil, because I don't think many people expected the Mariners to be 11 games over .500 so it certainly wasn't his performance.
  7. The Cubs make no sense. Gah. They are just swapping two similar pitchers-one who is fresh and can pitch today for one who would be unavailable to pitch today. It's the unfortunate consequence of being a relief pitcher sometimes-if Hill goes a couple more innings yesterday, Petrick is probably not being sent to the minor leagues today. Exactly, Petrick did nothing wrong to get him send down, its simply a consequence of having a shortened bullpen
  8. Yes we will. The padres and dodgers are tied. Winner leads division. Loser leads wild card. (Unless dbacks win, but then we'd gain 1/2 game instead of a whole game). We are guaranteed to be no more than 5.5 back after today. Wait...oh yeah I'm a moran
  9. Sucks that we can't gain ground in the Wild Card today. But all the Cubs need to do is keep winning and they will be in a good position when its all said and done.
  10. If you want to hear pat and rons call turn on WGN NOW
  11. Awesome I probably didn't describe it as well as I could have. The whole process of dropping my headphones to the floor and yelling to the entire office was just all emotions, one of those things that I didn't have time to think about, I just did it.
  12. I was listening on Gameday audio when i heard Pat say "THAT BALL IS DRIVEN..." after I heard Ron starting to scream in the background, i dropped my headphones and yelled to the crowd of cubicles "RAMIREZ WALKOFF CUBS WIN" as the entire office started to rumble
  13. Bowen is 1-16 as a Cub with 4 walks, if I'm not mistaken for a .063/.238/.063 /.301 line
  14. WOW.... Marquis's going Sunday, you think that'll turn out well? i definitely dont think the season is over Well, if we lose the series, we're 8 1/2 out. If we get swept, that's 10 1/2. I don't see us making up that kind of deficit, unless we catch the spirit of the 2004-05 Astros. Who cares though. At this far back, you shouldn't be worrying about how many games out we are. Just worry about winning every series and get back into it. Chances are if you win 75% of your series the rest of the year you will be in the thick of things.
  15. Agreed, there is no room for his sub-par ERA and WHIP on the team.
  16. I wouldnt mind getting Saltalamaccia, but I think that would cost WAY too much.
  17. I thought this was a family board. Beat me to it. Long night last night drinking away the Noah pain. I don't know why I put that there.
  18. The Cobs suck, there is no way they win this series. Time to go back to competing in the fecal league.
  19. I stole this idea from the Brewers board, so if any Brewers lurkers are viewing this, thanks for the idea. I thought it would be fun to create your NL Central All Star team. Instead of the 30 man All Star rosters, just create a 25 man team (unless you really want to stretch it out to 30). Try not to be too much of a Cubs homer, although I probably am. Here is my list...there are probably some notable emissions from this list, I put it together rather quickly. C - Estrada, MIL 1B - Fielder, MIL 2B - DeRosa, CHC SS - Hardy, MIL 3B - Ramirez, CHC LF - Dunn, CIN CF - Pence, HOU RF - Griffey, CIN Bench: D. Lee, CHC (1B) Pujols, STL (1B) Soriano, CHC (OF) C. Lee, HOU (OF) Molina, STL © Phillips, CIN (2B) SP - Sheets, MIL SP - Snell, PIT SP - Zambrano, CHC SP - Hill, CHC SP - Harang, CIN CP - Cordero, MIL RP - Isringhausen, STL RP - Capps, PIT RP - Wise, MIL RP - Franklin, STL RP - Marmol, CHC (homer pick) Notable omissions: Jason Bay, PIT Chris Duncan, STL Chris Duffy, PIT Bill Hall, MIL Corey Hart, MIL Xavier Nady, PIT Roy Oswalt, HOU Sean Marshall, CHC Tom Gorzelanny, PIT By team: Cubs - 7 Reds - 4 Brewers - 6 Astros - 2 Cardinals - 4 Pirates - 2 Honestly, looking at that roster, I think that any other division's "all star team" would beat ours.
