  1. For three days? This reminds me, is the deadline in the middle of the afternoon again this year? I wish they'd go back to the midnight deadline. I know, like I said its crazy. But if the Cubs were in the works for a trade with Murton involved, its not too crazy to think that they might bring him up and start him for 3 games. But doubtful
  2. :? Eh, theres not a lot out there that I've really liked. Maybe Lofton, but I don't see a lot of rumors involving him. Ty Wigginton might be a decent move, but no one has really earned a demotion on the team, especially with Murton coming up. Crazy thought, but any chance that they are bringing up Murton in order to showcase him for a trade?
  3. http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports_hardball/2007/07/murton-cherry-c.html It doesn't say who is going down but my guess would be Jake Fox and Billy Petrick.
  4. You did notice Bears, Lions and Vikings right ;) Enjoy your 6-10 season!
  5. Wow...Eckstein tried as hard as he could to scrap his way to an early Cardinals lead but he couldn't do it
  6. Yeesh, should Lee have let that go foul and give Pujols another chance?
  7. Jesus, that's about as bad as you can get :puke: And Cedeno STILL hit 8th in that lineup. Man, I've already forgotten how bad the Cubs were last year. When our rotation was Zambrano, Hill, Marmol, Mateo, Walrond
  8. DUNN DUNNDUNNDUNN
  9. The Reds do suck, but you can't be upset about taking 2/4 from the Brewers
  10. I don't know what his story is, but he is 7-14 hitting this year.
  11. Look who we went to visit when we traded for Matt Lawton in 2005. (The Phillies)
  12. Man I hope anyone who had JJ Hardy got rid of him when his value was the highest.... Hitting .206 (31-150) since June 1st with 3 HR and 12 RBI.
  13. Fun little thread. Think back to the Dusty days. If Dusty was our manager this year, how would things have been different this season? Here are a few ideas I came up with: ...Izturis would still be getting 4-5 starts a week at SS ...Theriot would either be in Iowa or the 25th man ...Fontenot would not have a Major league AB this season ...Barrett would likely still be our catcher ...Wade Miller would be getting another shot at the rotation right about now What else?
  14. SWEEETTT! If all the other teams win, this is how bunched the WC standings can look after tonight: SD --- ATL --- CHC 0.5 ARI 0.5 PHI 2.0 COL 3.5
  15. 7-2 Rockies. Please win tonight Cubs
  16. 4-2 Rockies and they are threatening for more with 2 on and 0 outs. Could be 0.5 back in the wild card at days end if we are lucky.
  17. 2-2 after Garret Atkins singled home Matt Holliday
  18. I feel the same way. Except the offense as it is right now, should be much more powerful then it is. If the bloop singles and clutch hits stop falling, I would expect the power numbers to sharply rise. We have only hit 7 HRs this month, by far the lowest in baseball. The next lowest is the Nationals with 12. We have 5 players on this roster who have hit 27 HRs or more in a season, and 4 that have hit 34 or more in a season, and right now only 1 player is on pace for even 30 (Aramis)
  19. Wainright has really been pitching well as of late. For some reason, I am predicting the Cubs offense to breakout tonight however. Soriano will get a couple of hits and a HR. I say Cubs win this one 8-3.
  20. Before Tillman got his chunk of change, I thought maybe the Bears might revisit a long term deal with Briggs after the season...but now I'm not so sure about that. Especially with Harris's extension coming up soon, and if for some reason Grossman does good next year his extension. I highly doubt they can keep Briggs past this year. That's what happens in football though, its really hard to keep a dominating unit in tact.
  21. I really like how the Bears handled this. I don't like the prospects of him returning after 2007, but who cares. They completely owned Drew, they knew he had no leverage, and they got what they wanted with minimal damage to the team.
