  1. So what is it sudden death, first vote wins?
  2. My first post was about 20 minutes before Game 2 of the 2003 NLDS. This was after about 6,000 on the ESPN.com boards.
  3. Wow, the kid definitely has the talent and experience to stay in the bigs all of the time, but because we have 2939249 OFs, it makes sense to send him down and let him get his confidence back up. Angel Pagan makes a much better backup OF because Murton is a starter. The good news is, this will probably hurt Matt's trade value, meaning he is not going anywhere until he gets another shot to start with the Cubs. I'd be pissed at the Cubs if I were him though.
  4. Is it that hard to click on the "Rivalries" forum and look at the threads in there. It kinda is because its not in my regular rotation (Baseball Discussions --> Transactions --> Social --> Game Threads --> Rants). There are not many threads post there, but occasionally there is something worth reading that I don't read for 2-3 days.
  5. Weaver: 0-6, 12.46 ERA explain yourself!? Exactly, he's got the Cubs right where he wants them.
  6. It was either double-switching Hill for Barrett, double-switching Jones for Pagan, or letting Howry hit for himself as the 2nd hitter in the 10th inning. Pick your poison. Well I could do the 'hindsight is 20-20' thing and say that if we chose Hill, then he probably catches the throw from Pagan/Jones in the 13th. Plus Hill would not have been up with 2 outs in the 13th with the bases loaded.
  7. This might be a coinflip. If someone wants to direct me to the NFC Championship game thread, it might make it an easier choice ;);) But then again, if someone directed me to OMC's old female sigs and his drunk posts I'm having trouble deciding again. And I haven't even gotten to Sulley yet.
  8. Yay, at least this one won't come down to a fight over soccer. CardFan your a good guy despite the obvious but...ya know
  9. The other situation that killed me is Lou Piniella being outmanaged into a situation where we had Jacque Jones facing a lefty in extra innings. Although he managed to get a lucky hit, it was poor coaching to put him in that situation by inserting him defensively the inning before. I know this has little to do with the topic but I wanted to get that off my chest
  10. If the Bulls are really going to be taking a guard with their first pick, you gotta believe that there is a deal in the works to trade one of our guards for a low post player.
  11. Does anybody know that percentage of times you can expect at least one run? From Tangotiger 99-02 With the bases loaded and 0 outs, chances that: 0 runs score: 12.8% 1 run scores: 25.5% 2 runs score: 21.1% 3 runs score: 14.3% 4 runs score: 13.4% 5+ runs score: 13.0% So the Cubs have been more likely to score more than 5 runs than 0 runs, and have consistently "beat" the odds... Do those numbers take into account Cesar Izturis being one of the hitters?
  12. Just for fun, everyone should post one different way that you can score with the bases loaded and 0 outs. I'll start: 1. Ground into a double play that doesn't involve an out at home.
  13. This team is pure scum. Unbelievable how we could be like 1.5 games out of first if we were any other franchise with comperable talent....but we are stupid scumbags and are 5.5 out even though the first place team loses EVERY FREAKING GAME
  14. I remember it happened 3 times in a week back in 2004
  15. Why the hell do the Cubs look scared up at the plate with the bases loaded and 0 outs? They are the people with the advantage there
  16. Rich Hill not looking all that sharp today. He's made some good pitches, especially in the first, but he's leaving too many pitches over the plate...
  17. And now, the nightmare that every pitcher has is occuring. Cesar Izturis with the bases loaded!!!
  18. And yet he pitched his butt off in game 2 on the NLDS. We should have won that damn game.
  19. Uhh oh. A first round ouster? While it wouldn't be embarrassing considering the opponent, it would be a bit distressing.
  20. Funny thing is this might have been the best opponent they beat all year! No one said it was decisive or dominating. Raisin just busted on ND when his team lost to us this season...seems like he shouldn't have much to say about ND, at least this year. I'm not bold enough to predict an Irish upset of the Wolverines this September, but it will be a tight game. UM probably wins because of experience, but it will be the last one you get for a while. Trust me, in the past I've learned to never take a ND game lightly. Even (especially?) at the Big House.
  21. Funny thing is this might have been the best opponent they beat all year!
  22. I pledge to not turn this vote into a vote on whether you like soccer or not.
  23. OK guys, I am not going to even pretend that I am too cool to care about whether I win this matchup or not. I care....so umm please vote for me. Where would you all be without my pessimism? How about my picking fights with Neifi Perez and Dusty Baker sympathizers at NSBB meets? So vote for your reigning HR Derby champion (and 5th place finisher in the 2005 season predictions contest). But if for some reason you don't....I guess I'll probably just blame it on CT.
  24. No offense to the other poster, but voting against Jon is just....I don't know..unamerican.
  25. 3.94 ERA as an AL pitcher....he'd probably dominate the NL
