  1. I think he would be a rental. Despite his age and his terrible first half, if the market is anything like last years, if he has a solid second half to go along with the 40 HR season last year, teams will be lining up to sign him.
  2. Seriously, I hope the Wrigley fans give him a 10 minute standing ovation the first day he takes the mound. Sadly, it will probably be the opposite. I doubt it. Kerry Wood is probably the most universally loved player the Cubs have had since Sandberg I was out by the players parking lot during a game in 2005 waiting for players to come out. The first player to come out was a disabled Kerry Wood. When he walked out, a guy yells "KERRY WOOD GET THE HELL OUT OF CHICAGO YOU BUM!" and then the rest of the crowd, almost if on cue started a long, loud booing. Kerry pretended like he didn't notice it, but you could see it in his eyes that he did. Experiences like that make me wonder why he said that he owed it to the fans to come back this season.
  3. Congrats! I've often wondered how to become a mod as it is my greatest dream. I guess you have to get requested by Modzilla. Interesting.
  4. Alright! 3 games out of the division and 1.5 back of the wild card. All in all a fairly successful day, and we didn't even play!
  5. HAWPE! FANTASY AND REALITY HAPPINESS!
  6. Whoops spoke too soon there!
  7. Looks like we will lose ground in the WC today now that the Padres bullpen is in the game. Padres up 5-2 in the 8th.
  8. Pence out 4-6 weeks, you still want to predict 1/3?
  9. Why wouldnt the Brewers have double switched Shouse into the game? Any chance we see Shouse hitting this inning?
  10. Walked him by hitting him with the pitch!
  11. I have a feeling the Brewers have a 4 game sweep. This was the one the Reds were supposed to win
  12. This one's over
  13. Brewers have to score in the 11th with Hardy, Braun and Fielder due up
  14. That's not huge splash? Keep in mind that there is very little trade chatter going on in the league right now. If we got a starter (which is useless to us) and Lofton, that would be a huge splash
  15. We got trouble here...
  16. He's only thrown 112 pitches so far..
  17. The last pitcher to go 10 IP was Roy Halladay on 4/13. The Jays won the game in the 10th
  18. The Brewers will win this game. The Reds lineup sucks and the Brewers bullpen is really good. 0-0 tie between Pads and Rockies after 1/2 inning.
  19. I think Soriano will continue to hit leadoff no matter what. Even so, I think getting Lofton would be a nice pickup Soriano Lofton Lee Ramirez Floyd DeRosa Theriot Kendall Bench: Ward Fontenot Pagan Blanco Jones (?)
  20. I like the first part of that article that talks about the Cubs hanging around most trade talks. At least we know Hendry is looking to make a deal.
  21. Great question. Rotoworld hasn't said anything about him in some time.
  22. They are an enjoyable read. You also get to look into the mind of a 15 year old CT, which is always fun.
  23. I stole this idea from BCB, but its an interesting prediction. After today's off day the Cubs play 20 games in a row, with 3 of the 6 opponents at or above .500. How they fare in these 20 games may determine the Central race. Here is the breakdown: 3 @ St. Louis 3 @ Cincinnati 4 vs. Philadelphia 3 vs. Mets 3 @ Houston 4 @ Colorado Anyone got predictions on how they fare? I'm going to go with 2/3 to St. Louis, 2/3 to Cinci (that Marshall/Harrang matchup worries me), 2/4 vs. Philly, 1/3 vs. Mets, 2/3 to Houston and 3/4 to Colorado. Thats 12-8 and puts them at 63-53 overall. (Note: During that stretch here is the Brewers schedule: 4 @ Cincinnati 4 @ St. Louis 3 vs. Mets 3 vs. Philly 3 @ Colorado 3 @ Houston Basically the same schedule in reverse)
  24. I like our odds with Cap going against Harrang
  25. Plus you gotta think with the new ballpark opening next year, the Nats will probably be able to make a splash in the FA market...maybe not to contend but to at least make it an exciting team. That might be another decent selling point for Dunn.
