    Not really surprising. No matter what anyone says, we're not a real good team. Take 2 top run producers out of any lineup and most teams won't be real good.

    He doesn't play for us anymore, I personally don't care. In fact, his bad numbers just make the justification for his trade better. But I will say that playing at Petco couldn't help his offensive numbers.

    Doesn't get on base, doesn't hit for power (one of the team's biggest problems), average defensive player at best. What's the point? He doesn't improve the team even marginally. If the Cubs got him, it would be 'just to make a move'

    I was just saying the other day that we had too much power on our team and needed more speedy powerless guys that can't get on base. This is turning out to be my day!

    Hopefully that Cubs lineup can be fluky good again, because if that lineup last night played 162 games, they would be a 60 win team.

    Branyan is a bad player, but he'd probably lead the Cubs in HRs for the season if we were to acquire him today.

    Let's carry this thought forward. Oakland has three choices here: (1) Pull him back from waivers. (2) Just let him go to the Cubs - Cubs would assume the remaining contract. (3) Make a trade. If I understand waivers correctly with item 3, the Cubs can only trade 3 types of players: (a) player(s) from the Cubs 40-man who has (have) cleared waivers; (b) a player from the Cubs 40-man, who was claimed on waivers first by Oakland; © player(s) who is (are) not on the 40 man roster. If it's scenario 3a or 3b, there would be no impact on the 40-man roster; however, if it's scenario 2 or 3c, the Cubs would have to remove somebody from their 40 man roster to add Stewart. That would be either a player who has cleared waivers or somebody the Cubs would have to DFA. Interested to see how all this unfolds. Are we assuming the Cubs are the highest priority team to put in a claim? From what I heard they were. The ESPN 1000 broadcast said that the Cubs put claims on 3 other players but were denyed by higher waiver teams. Stewart, however, fell to the Cubs and is available to be traded.

    Sounds about right. Thank God someone else recognizes that. It's pretty obvious that this is the case to me.

    .360 obp this year, decent speed (10 SB), .300 hitter, not a lot of power but the Cubs don't have much to begin with. If he fills in for Soriano and then becomes our 3/4th OF the rest of the season, I'd be very happy with that acquisition. Then sign Tori Hunter after the season and we can make a former Twins OF

    The Rockies might have 15-20 runs in this game if the Brewers keep Yo out there to save the bullpen work
