  1. Soriano, Jones, Floyd isn't that bad on paper if you look at their last healthy seasons.
  2. Or when the trading deadline occurs and people are hoping that trades are imminent.
  3. Please amount to something. Please. But not for Marmol. Eric Patterson for Dye? Probably giving up too much, but for the first World Series in 99 years? Yes please.
  4. I forgot who was talking about this, but that is exactly what I heard on the radio. His time is running short, so he's building for now rather than the future.
  5. Didn't know I had a radar. I read it this morning in Barry Rozner's column. Desipio reader I'm guessing. I really enjoy their humor except when it pertains to their disdain for this message board and specific posters here.
  6. There's a financial side of it for Gagne. He has a games-finished clause in his contract. If he's not closing, that could be 3 million plus that he's losing if he's not the closer and Papelbon is. My guess is that Gagne will try to get the Red Sox to guarantee him an opportunity to close or guarantee a portion of the forfeited money. I think I read Ken Rosenthal say that the Sox will entice him by guarantee him all the incentives in his contract.
  7. no Hendry is standing pat. Source? Or just the typical I know it all pessimistic attitude? Well there were several radio reports implying that Hendry is standing pat. Obviously, that could just be leverage and could change instantly, but its solid enough evidence to not call out one of the posters for his 'know-it-all pessimistic attitude'
  8. All I read is that he would have to be consulted if he were to be traded to Boston. That is weird, I thought people want to goto Boston. Similarly, he wouldn't have to be consulted for a trade to Milwaukee. That is weird, I didn't think people wanted to goto Milwaukee
  9. Certainly wouldn't hurt us though. I think although Dempster is fine and his 'stuff' looks better than last year, his disappointing performance last year is still very fresh in the minds of Cubs fans.
  10. If the Sox are offering Gabbard and Murphy, the price might be high for the Cubs to acquire Gagne. I don't know a lot about the Sox minor league system but I think Murphy is pretty highly regarded.
  11. Johan Santana and Joe Mauer to the Cubs? :D I'd trade them Rich Hill, Geo Soto, Felix Pie and pay their payroll for the next 15 years. Honestly, for Santana and Mauer I'd give up Felix Pie, Derrek Lee, Sean Marshall, Genovay Soto, Matt Murton and maybe 1-2 other mid level prospects.
  12. I'm pretty sure as of 2006, every AL team had played every NL team. Most teams haven't been to 3-4 different interleague parks
  13. Who is he going to replace in the OF? I guess Murton or less likely Pagan. Not a big fan of this move jimbo.
  14. Soriano's 18th HR put him 22nd in baseball in HRs.
  15. Well we were arguing that Sorianos HRs come in bunches. There's another one.
  16. You gotta have hope if you are a team who is not quite sellers but not quite buyers. I seem to remember fans having hope into September that the Cubs would get hot and make a playoff run in 2005.
  17. Lets salvage the series on Sunday. These losers have lost this one before they ever get to the ballpark on Saturday
  18. Sounds like the kind of criticism that Manny had the other night
  19. Yep, if only Howry would have made Jones slide. sliding wouldn't have made a difference. now slowing down around third and looping out like he was going into the dugout... It would have. Ross had just enough time to catch the ball turn and brace for a hit. Ross was standing up when he caught the ball. A slide by Jones and he has a 75% chance of scoring in my estimation. well, sounds like you've got it mathematically figured out. Well it sounds like....hmm...well you have no basis for your argument either do ya big guy? arbitrarily throwing out 75% doesn't make your argument worth anything. he and ball arrived at roughly the same time. it looks like he should have gone around ross and slid, but the way he rounded third put him in a real awkward position relative to the catcher. there was no real way for him to slide based on where he was standing. if he would have slid from where he was when the ball got there he just would have hit ross like three feet in front of home plate. good enough for ya, big guy? I can throw out whatever numbers I want. BTW, I'm drinking and looking for an e-fight, cantcha tell. I am really upset and disapointed. So laugh at me whatever Brewers fans may be reading this, I don't care.

  21. Don't worry, Arroyo is going tomorrow, so we will lose 3  Harang my bad

Whatever, I'm done with this team tonight. Hopefully the Brewers lose 1 of the 2 tomorrow so we can only lose a half game to Harang
