    How anyone can say that Pie is ready to contribute in the major leagues is beyond me. Hey, we all want him to succeed, but he's just not a smart enough hitter right now.

    That was MURDERED. Soto should be hitting 4th right now...

    What did he do wrong? He gave up softly hit single into the shift. If the shift isn't on, its an easy out. Then he gave up a lightly hit IF hit that was perfectly placed. He followed that by ending the inning by inducing a picture perfect DP ball. When that was botched, he did walk someone, but then gave up a soft bloop single into center to score 2.

    The only good out of this is hopefully Hendry will realize that we desperately need starting pitching help. Of course he should have recognized that last season instead of resting on the laurels of an amazingly flukey season by the staff as a whole.

    I don't know about you guys, but when I turned on the game today, I just saw a loss coming. Today just feels like a loss. Anyways, putting Dempster in situations where he has to throw strikes against moderately patient hitters is not good.

    Just wanted to point out we will probably be missing Webb this weekend. He is scheduled to throw Thusday. It's looking like Haren, Scherzer and Mr. "12-0 1.98 ERA lifetime vs. Cubs" Randy Johnson

    Simon struck out in roughly 9% of his ABs during his entire career. Soriano has struck out in roughly 22% of his ABs during his entire career. I think a better Simon comparison would be Vlad (obviously despite the huge talent gap). Vlad is a bad ball hitter but strikes out only 12% of the time.

    I think alot of people have been saying this since we signed him. I read in the Trib that Cedeno was taking fly balls in CF before the game. Hopefully this means he will take over and platoon with Pie

    Thats the 5th time we've got the leadoff man on in the game. We scored in 2 of those innings, and in the other 3 we didn't move the runner over even one base.
