  1. I remember when I looked forward to Eyre coming into the game. Hopefully I can do that this season.
  2. Because we own? Wow your return here might be short with more comments like that.
  3. Guys ready to win your second world series before our first (in 99 years)?
  4. I'm about 40% worried. I can't foresee the pitching staff being this good all year long, but I think their offense is semi-legit.
  5. I do. The only 3 pitchers that I guarantee a loss for my team are Webb, Peavy and Santana. Well now Volquez. I still can't believe we beat Webb last year and played him close in the playoffs (although we only got 1 run on him).
  6. Greatest thread not started by MurtonFan or Yeti ever.
  7. Jon Lieber just gave up a home run to Chris Young.
  8. Again, he would be 72 on election day if elected (Regan was 69). The guy is old.
  9. I assumed the question spoke for itself. In other words, will he be president for the entire term or will something, anything, prevent that from happening. It can be morbid, but it's not absurd. World leaders not lasting their entire term can happen. And more than one US president has failed to fill out his term. I agree its not absurd. But why isn't there a poll asking if John McCain would make it all 4 years? He's not black (and I'm assuming this was the impetus for the discussion) , but he's pretty damn old. I don't think you really needed to ask the question. A first-time black president is unique. An old guy is not. Plus, if Barack gets the nomination, he's also most likely to win. Obama has some Kennedy/MLK qualities to him, and we all know those histories. It's a legit issue. True, but McCain will be the oldest first time president if elected.
  10. ^ Great response Raw. Where I'm from, everyone goes out for St. Patty's day. Maybe the day before Thanksgiving would be a good day too. It's the supposed "most participated party day of the year"

  12. I wonder what Second City Hoops thinks about all of this.
  13. Do you mean will he die? Will he be impeached? Will he resign? That's one of those questions where you wonder to yourself or inner circle but dare not ask in a public forum.
  14. By everyone do you mean hookers and by customers do you mean Johns? D'oh! Freudian slip...?
  15. I personally prefer St. Patty's day. Halloween is nice, but everyone is too hung up on each other's costumes and the aforementioned scantily dressed women to give a damn about your birthday.
  16. Good idea. I wonder why this hasn't been brought up before.
  17. With today's HR, he has tied his career high in HRs with 4. On May 7th. He has never had a SLG over .358 in any season in his career. This season he has a .518. I honestly think he was just like "dammit, I suck, I'm going to pump myself up with roids and hit a bunch of dingers until I fail a drug test and then call it a career."
  18. Last year, we would have outscored them 37-6 and they would have taken 2 out of 3
  19. I wouldn't count out the Brewers. I wonder what people were saying about us last June...
  20. Kinda weird that they are bothering to hit Soriano in this situation.
  21. When our cold streak started, we all marveled because the team was still getting on base and hitting at a decent rate. But by now our entire team is the in the midst of a horrendous cold streak. Lee, DeRosa, Reed Johnson and Fukudome are in horrific slumps. Ward, Soriano, Theriot, Pie, Fontenot and Ramirez are rather blah. The only player who is hitting halfway decent right now is Soto.* *Blanco and Cedeno did not have enough ABs to qualify.
  22. 9-0. Is this a big enough deficit to bring Marmol in to keep the the score where its at? Ironically enough Lou will probably bring him in since I don't think he's been in since Saturday.
  23. Why do the Cubs allow me to get this worked up year after year after year. why can't I just accept that they will never build a great team?
