  1. Well duh. If he ever sees an AB for the Cubs I'd be stunned. But we traded Craig Monroe for him so.
  2. His OBP looks really solid and hes got a touch of power. However he is 26 already. Not bad.
  3. Tough series for you guys. I know if the roles were switched, we'd be in doomsday mode over here. That said, I really like some of your young hitters.
  4. Tyler Colvin 3-26 to start the season :(
  5. Carlos Marmol, but I think its harder to evaluate Dominican prospects as they don't have a background of high school and/or college ball and most of the time aren't drafted.
  6. When Myers is at bat, I wonder if Len and Bob will mention that his SLG % is higher at home at it is at the plate?
  7. With all that money us tax payers give you guys, you'd think they'd provide you a fast internet connection.
  8. Man Fukudome takes a pitch on 3-2 that I think only Lee and maybe Reed Johnson would even consider taking.
  9. You know considering how badly Hill started, I am happy that we are still in this game. This one had the feelings of sure loss in the first inning.
  10. Nice job fighting off that pitch for a sac fly Derrek
  11. Agreed. We gave him an extended look last year and he sucked then, so this isn't necessarily a sample size issue. You can't play the young guys just for the sake of playing them, they have to at least show something out there. That's coming off incredibly Dustyish, I imagine. It's not a matter of benching him perminantly. But when he's looking that foolish out there and getting overmatched in just about every AB, he needs to sit down for a bit. Pie still has talent, and I'm there is no way I'm giving up on him after 200+ ABs
  12. Can't win them all. At least we won games against Roy Oswalt, Brandon Backe, Tom Gorzelanny, and Zach Duke in the past 4 games. If we lose a few to Chris Sampson and Matt Morris, meh.
  13. I tried to warn people coming in that we would have some starting pitching problems this year. Granted its only 9 games, but it already looks like this may be happening.
  14. I think you are missing the fact that the camera angle at PNC Park is different than most ballparks. Its more off to the right side. So a lot of pitches to that side of the plate look like strikes when they are balls.
  15. I don't know why you guys call him One Pitch Rich. Obviously he throws a ton of them.
  16. Wonder if this means Theriot's dropped from the 2 hole for good.
  17. Wait, what? You guys have both been to another road game on April 9th that also went 15 innings? Weird. Yeah... we were in Atlanta 4 years ago when the CUBS beat the Braves 2-1 in 15. Ain't that a hoot !! Ah, the HOLLA-bomb game, right? The first 100-page NSBB game thread, if I am not mistaken. Yup. Cubs were down 1-0 until 2 outs in the 9th I believe. It might not have been 2 outs. But either way Holla slammed a HR down the RF line and the teams played forever and a day until the 15th inning when I believe the go ahead run scored on a foul ball sac fly. Also, that game thread was listed as one of Yanr's greatest life accomplishments upon his less than graceful "retirement" from this board. Good old Yanr.
  18. Having Corey Patterson and Paul Bako on the roster with Jay Bruce in AAA is already an example of how Dusty's influence will hurt them. I don't care what a 10 game sampling says.
  19. Paul Sullivan confirms its Hill tonight: http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports_hardball/2008/04/hill-ready-to-f.html Also, this is the likely starters for today: C: Blanco 1B: Lee 2B: Fontenot SS: Theriot 3B: Ramirez LF: Soriano CF: Pie RF: Fukudome I'm guessing the lineup will look like this: Soriano, LF Theriot, SS Lee, 1B Ramirez, 3B Fukudome, RF Blanco, C Fontenot, 2B Pie, CF Hill, P
  20. I think it was pretty obvious that the ball disappeared behind the foul pole.
  21. Yeah, it clearly looked like a HR. Either way Felix got the GW hit.
  22. I know its stupid to scoreboard watch in April, but c'mon. The Brewers and Cardinals are winning again! If this keeps up the Brewers will be 7-1, the Cardinals 7-2. Aghh
  23. Jason Kendall is 2-2 tonight. His average for the year is up to .571.
