  1. I've been reading around looking for some sort of outlook. One site is speculating that because of the fact that he had to be helped off the field, it is probably a serious calf strain. If it is serious, its probably going to be 3-4 weeks. Another thing I read is that a lot of times a calf strain turns into an achillies issue after an MRI is taken. If its an achillies tear, I don't have to tell you guys that he'll be out for the season.
  2. Why is it that when Derrek Lee was injured in 2006, I honestly had trouble eating for two days, but when Soriano gets hurt it really doesn't phase me that much at all?
  3. Tampa Bay wouldn't do that, unless the Cubs added a guy like Marshall or Gallagher along with Murton. But if the Cubs are interested in a guy like Brignac, then it would make some sense. Which I would gladly do. However I am pretty sure it would take way more than that. Well I'd also throw in someone like Veal if they can include that Price guy.
  4. Guess this answers the question of who will get the loudest boos tonight.
  5. 1.) The Carlos Lee for Scott Podsednik trade did not help the White Sox. 2.) The White Sox are no more real than the A's or the Orioles right now. They look good, but the Tigers will come back, the Indians will be good. 13-14 games is not a good sample size.
  6. Golf clap. I chuckled. I know, because Chicago hates black people like Michael Jordan, Ferguson Jenkins, Ernie Banks, Andre Dawson, Walter Peyton, Sammy Sosa (in the heyday), Billy Williams, Bill Clinton, and Ced Landrum. There's a difference between a bad black athlete and a good one. I'm not saying Chicago is any more racist then most major American cities, but most sports fans would cheer a Nazi if he was good at hitting the ball. So you're saying that fans don't care about anything unless you're a good player. Saying that color of skin means nothing to the fans. It depends. I mean I think that LaTroy was a little too quick to be boo'd IMO. Also, after how much affection the Cubs fans had to Sosa, if you step back and look at the situation with no bias, its hard to believe how quickly the fans turned on him. If Mark Grace got caught with a corked bat and then the next year skipped out during the last game of the year after having declining numbers, I don't think the fans would have turned on him as completely as they did with Sammy. I don't know though, I could be completely wrong in retrospect. There is so much grey area when talking about racism and things of that nature. I mean Todd Hundley is probably the most hated Cub of the last 25 years, and he of course was as white as they come. And a son of a member of the 69 Cubs no less. Kerry Wood, after everything that went on with him and the Cubs, the 20k game, the 2003 playoffs, signing with the Cubs last offseason with better offers on the table, gave up 3 ERs on Opening Day was boo'd pretty harshly. So honestly after typing all that who knows.
  7. I don't like the first 4 games of the season. I think we might start 1-3

  9. Trying to copy the Cubs move of trying to get as many mediocre number 5 type starting pitchers as possible for versitility.
  10. I think there are bleacher season tickets. I'm almost positive Al Yellon from BCB has season tickets in the bleachers.
  11. What's this? Do the Cubs hold off selling the front row bleacher seats until a few hours before the game? Is this for every game? That's interesting ... No, the bleachers are General Admission, so he wants to get there early so he can get a good seat before someone else takes it.
  12. Him and Kosuke will have to fight for that number when Rhee joins the club in August.
  13. I'm always partial to record for least pitches in an inning (3). This record is held by several people
  14. The forums should be "Cubs Discussions" and "General Baseball Discussions"
  15. And considering all the hits he had in the first home stand that could have been doubles and homers were wind aided outs. Impressive.
  16. Nothing special, but not bad either. I don't see how that furthers either argument with such a small sample size. you're right it's nothing special because it's bad. Ryan Theriot bad. Sample size. 18 at bats. If one of his 4 singles in 18 ABs turned into a double his OPS goes up 55 points. That said, as we know, his career stats against RHs suck so obviously its an issue.
  17. I was waiting for someone to post this.

  19. BTW, am I the only one that doesn't really give a crap about Dusty Baker coming back? It's not like I don't hate the man like everyone else, it's just that I don't care. Once he left the Cubs, I could care less what he does.
  20. Well, lets put it this way, when I get there about 3 hours before game time there is usually already a short line started. And that's for day games. I'd suggest at least an hour and a half-two hours. But that's just a complete guess, really. So in other words - your tentative plan sounds great, you're pretty much assured a front row seat. Nah, night games are not that bad for the bleachers. Everyone is coming from work and doesn't get to the park before 6-6:30. I usually show up an hour before the game and get close seats. As long as your not in a large group you should be fine showing up an hour before. If you get in line at 4, you'll probably get the same seats as you would if you got in there at 5:30-6:00
  21. I think this was the wrong message board to ask this question if you wanted debate from both sides.
  22. Hopefully Kosuke can figure some things out and get hot again. I'm not worried because obviously there is an adjustment period once pitchers find a way to pitch to you, but .214/.333/.214/.547 over the last 7 games is blah. His OPS for the year dipped under .900 after yesterday's performance. It's not so much I'm worried about his hitting overall, but I'm worried in the long run about his power. Doesn't seem to get too many line drives at all. I think I read somewhere after his first week that his LD% was really low compared to his slg %, and that being a huge indicator of a big drop off. Obviously no one expected him to slug .700 for the year, and I'm probably going to look like a fool when he adjusts and picks it up a bit, but right now I'm a tad worried.
  23. Remember when Marquis miraculously had an awesome Team W-L on days that he pitched, despite mediocre numbers? Well he's 2-0 this year...
  24. Take that stupid crap somewhere else! Go. Reds. Let me go to Redszone.com and post Go Cubs and see how people react.
