  1. Not the best game for Fukudome today..
  2. Except Fontenot and Theriot are up so, yeah its over.
  3. You saw this from the future. Do tell us how everything works out! :)
  4. Howry and Lilly battling it out for the ERA crown
  5. Nice job so far keeping that all important 9th run from scoring.
  6. Send in the clowns (amusement = Paul Bako hitting a triple)
  7. The Sox already had plenty of power. Lee is the better offensive player when it comes to HR and RBI and AVG but what Podsednik gave the Sox was a player who could manufacture runs, a player who could beat out an infield hit (40 in 2005, 16 of those bunts), a player who could get on base (.419 OBP leading off the game in 2005) in the first inning and be at 2B by the time the meat of the order came up. He was the spark for the Sox in '05 and the offense suffered when he was out with an injury later in the year, which almost cost the Sox. Pods reminded my alot of what Bobby Dernier did for the Cubs in '84. So say what you will about old baseball traditional positions but there is a reason why they are traditions.....it's because they work more often than not and in 2005, it worked like a charm. I guess infield hits are better than outfield hits? Most of those "stats" are horrible. He had 40 IF hits...so what? He only had 117 outfield hits. IF hits are likely less valuable than OF hits as at most they can only move the runner up one base. Either way he hit .290. .419 OBP leading off the game? What a fluke stat...unless of course you are telling me that he spent so much energy trying to get on base to begin the game that he was unable to get on base at a proficient clip the rest of the game. Either way, he got on base at a .351 clip.
  8. The set of Wizard of Oz? Sorry, I had to.
  9. This game might be getting out of hand soon
  10. That's why I hate rallies that happen with the bottom of the order coming up. Or Fontenot/Theriot. The aren't the bottom literally, but they sure are figuratively. Thats what happens when your top 2 hitters are out machines, so most of your rallies are going to start with the 3-4-5-6 hitters, leaving the 6-7-8-9 hitters to clean up the mess. This is why a smarter offense would have good hitters hitting 1-2.
  11. 2004. 5 shutout innings against the Cubs. Hurricane double header where they beat Beckett in Game 1, iirc. Pavano during his good year
  12. I had no idea Ward was hitless this season so far. Cmon DWard.
  13. I see that Dusty is letting a young pitcher pitch well over 100 pitches to salvage a game in a 3 game series. In other news, the sun will come up tomorrow.
  14. This is what pitching 5 innings feels like Lilly.
  15. Really? Absolutely. Bad strategic moves + burning out good pen pitchers in non-critical situations + overreacting to short samples constantly. Lou's not the best strategist in the world, I agree, but he makes up for it in other ways.
  16. I'm so confused. Do I hope Fontenot walks to get to Theriot?
  17. Really? Yeah. He really does suck. Better than Dusty Baker doesn't mean good. I disagree, and I'm as pessimistic and negative as they come.
  18. Will at best be 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs for Fontenot. Why is the offense configured like this?
  19. Blah, I'd care more if we didn't already win the first 2 games of this series. Obviously I'm just more or less worried about Lilly long term.
  20. What is Lilly a 3 inning pitcher these days?
