I would think Brewers fans are saying the same thing about Dempster. They're too busy mozzerella sticking their way to an early grave. Strangely enough, outside of Milwaukee and Green Bay, I have found the people of the state of Wisconsin to be in exceptionally good shape in spite of all the beer drinking and cheese eating. They're just outside doing stuff a lot. This still surprises me even after going to college in Wisconsin for 4 years. I agree for the most part, but off the beaten path it's a very different story I went to UW Oshkosh, and before that a small liberal arts college outside of Sheboygan, and while for the most part, the college people were in pretty decent shape, your average townie looked like they could drop dead at any moment. Guys, after shivering through last nights brutal game, I've decided a night in my warm house alternating between GTA and watching the cubs game is much more appealing. I am hoping to rid myself of tonight's bleacher seats (2 of them). Ideally, I'd like to sell them for face ($40) but I am willing to listen to best offers, as my desire to get rid of these is pretty great. PM me an offer. I live in Wrigelyville and will be able to meet anytime after 5:30.

Thoughts about this game: -Marquis is horrible. Has he had a start all year where he didn't give up liners all over the place? Maybe his second start, I can't remember. You can't put someone in your rotation who goes 2-0 to EVERY hitter if you want to be a very good team. -Sad to say, I don't think Hart is a major league pitcher right now. I don't blame Lou for putting him in the situation he did, although I couldn't believe no one was warming up in the 5th when the first 2 came on. In fact I don't think anyone started warming up until after the bases were loaded. It's a one run game Lou. -The Brewers look awesome. I know this has been said a million times, but they managed to stay within 2 games of us despite everyone on their team hitting below their potential, without Cameron, and with Sheets or Gallardo not in the rotation at the same time. Meanwhile, the Cubs pitching has been mediocre, but their bats have been awesome and this is where we are at. If the Brewers stay healthy, I expect them to win the division by at least 5 games, assuming no moves are made at the deadline (and you know there will be, possibly by both sides. I expect the Brewers to make a big trade in July, Cubs better respond) -That said, the Cubs will be alright. It's amazing they were able to walk what 8 times despite not getting very much solid contact on Sheets all night. If they can walk consistently, this is about as worse of a slump as you can get with this team. The key is, they are going to need to make a move for a #2/#3 starter if they want to keep up with the Brewers. I think the Brewers are a 95 win team, the Cubs a 90 win team right now.

You'd have to pay me to go to this one. Its going to be miserable out there. Those of us who bought their 9 game plan back in January thought this was going to be a great time for a game. Alas, with the weather pathetic and GTA IV being picked up after work, I have no idea why I am going. I have tickets to tomorrows game as well... At least with the cold weather, the Brewers bats might be cold, making Jason Marquis more effective. At least that's the way I drew it up in my head.

You mean like those cavernous places where offense goes to die like Arizona and Coors? The splits would be more informative if the OPS+ number was adjusted for the league, not the team also. The split is obviously hinged more on Petco than anywhere else. It's a pretty startling difference, especially in regard to his power numbers. It's not a stretch at all to think that his home numbers would drastically improve hitting in a place like Wrigley as his home park instead of Petco. Didn't people here do an analysis and determine that Greene could have hit 10 more HRs last year if he played somewhere other than Petco?

Your right man, Theriot is a much better ballplayer than Cedeno is or ever will be. Theriot's line is obviously good. Take out his 2 CS, and his 2-3 DPs he's hit into out of his OBP and its not looking too good. (edit: I realize you can't do that, but my point is the quality of his numbers are not as great as it seems.)
