  1. I think you overpaid for saves on your team. Looks pretty decent to me though.
  2. Except for I didn't enter last year after winning in 2006. So look out for me!
  3. According to Sullivan, today's lineup is what Lou expects to be the Opening Day lineup if no trades are made: So to spell that out Theriot, SS Soriano, LF Lee, 1B Ramirez, 3B Fukudome, RF DeRosa, 2B Soto, C Pie, CF Pitcher (today: Marquis), P I almost more hope they make a trade so that they don't waste Fukudome in the 5 hole.
  4. Man interleague play starts earlier every year...
  5. Argh, I didn't have Internet access when I was in Arizona. Sorry...next year for sure. Where were you? I was in the grandstands down the LF line. I figured, I didn't even remember that you were going to be there until I started the game thread. I was on the lawn - RF side by the pens. The game went so fast and it was so cool out I didn't bother to walk around much.
  6. Willits or Figgins? It's gotta be Willits. SH player who can fill in at a bunch of positions, including CF, and is rumored to be sent down to the minors by the Angels. In fact, a Marquis for Willits trade seems so logical, considering the Angels pitching woes (Lackey and Escobar both injured). Angels fans would probably want a prospect thrown in as well.
  7. I wasn't even considering this option. Maybe this is why there is such a holdup in the BRob trade...why accept Cedeno as part of your haul when he might be on waivers available to you in 2 weeks?
  8. but will be blocked by Corey Patterson If/when Bruce is sent back to AAA it will have nothing to do with Corey Patterson and everything to do with his .557 spring training OPS. Bruce came into spring training with a chance to win a job, and he didn't win it. I have very little problem with Patterson opening the year in CF either. He is a good defender, great speed, has some pop in his bat, and it's almost a lock GABP will inflate his numers like it does everyone else. The problem is he belongs hitting 7th or 8th, not 1st where he will likely be. Some pop? Tell that to his .386 SLG last year. Corey Patterson is an awful baseball player who should only be on a major league team if he was a late inning defensive replacement/pinch runner. Unfortunately (or fortunately) he will leadoff and start in CF for the Reds on Opening Day most likely.
  9. that would probably mean the Cubs get Byrd from Texas since they just traded for Hamilton. Like 3 months ago...
  10. since you were too busy to notice, only the Padres and Red Sox gave up less runs than the Cubs last year -- 17 teams scored more runs than the Cubs last year Accounting for Career seasons by Lilly, Hill, Marshall and a great half by Marquis. Replace Marshall and his sub 4.00 ERA with Dempster and his career starting ERA in the mid 4's, and then expect a regression by Lilly and we'll see where we stand.
  11. I will start the game thread since I am going to the game shorty. Lets go Z! Raisin, if you are still going to the game and see this, PM me your number so we can meet up!
  12. I think those choices were intentionally picked because of their race.
  13. I am kinda rooting for the Cubs to suck here offensively, because it would be an absolutely stupid move to hit Fuku and his high OBP 5th, and Soriano and his low OBP 2nd. I mean completely backwards.
  14. Yeah I kinda got stuck in a position where i was one pick away from getting another SP and my target was taken. One major example is when someone took Tim Lincecum, my mancrush, one pick before me. That said, I have the ability to make some trades.
  15. Remember when we were going to trade Aramis for Ervin Santana?
  16. Since no one responded to my first rate my team a couple of weeks ago, I will try again with my next team. 10 team 6x6 league (avg, obp, hr, r, rbi, sb) x (w, k, era, whip, sv, hold). I can see a couple of major areas of vulnerability, but I feel I have the core in place to do well. C - Joe Mauer 1B - Lance Berkman 2B - Rickie Weeks SS - Jose Reyes 3B - Ryan Zimmerman OF - Vladimir Guerrero OF - Corey Hart OF - Jermaine Dye OF - Josh Hamilton OF - Pat Burrell CI - Travis Hafner MI - Kazuo Matsui UT - Bill Hall UT - Akinori Iwamura UT - Luke Scott BN - Adam Jones BN - J.R. Towles SP - Erik Bedard SP - Cole Hamels RP - Jose Valverde RP - Manny Corpas RP - Chad Cordero P - OPR (Rich Hill) P - Jered Weaver P - Joakim Soria P - Scott Shields P - Jamie Walker P - Octavio Dotel BN - Juan Cruz As you can see, 29 player teams, so its pretty deep. Meh, now that I type it out, I could have done better. How do you guys feel?
  17. Thats exactly how I feel but I was too young for 1984. I punched a hole in the wall in 1989.
  18. William Jennings Bryan
  19. I think thats the reason why the Cubs were talking to the Sox.
  20. This turns the Cardinals from a 72 win team to a 71 win team!
