  2. Looks like Dempster is turning back into Dempster
  3. Nick Johnson is like the white Fukudome.
  4. Make note: In an important game, Dempster's control will kill us. The guy's got good stuff, he just gets really really wild sometimes.

  6. Short-term split data really isn't predictive. Yup, but its sure fun to point out when the data looks like that.
  7. Reed Johnson career splits: RH - .270/.330/.384/.714 LH - .305/.371/.456/.827 Reed Johnson 2008 splits: RH - .368/.405/.421/.821 (42 PA) LH - .217/.379/.261/.640 (29 PA)

  9. I see what you've done.
  10. Wow these results surprise me. I don't want to lose in the World Series. No one jeers us with "1-9-4-5". The White Sox don't make fun of us because they won their league in 2005 and we didn't. I don't dream about Aramis Ramirez getting the game winning hit in the NLCS. I want to win it all, and nothing less will satisfy me.
  11. Some "last 7 days" statistics: Aramis Ramirez: .423/.525/.885/1.430 Ronny Cedeno: .429/.478/.667/1.145 Kosuke Fukudome: .348/.464/.565/1.030 Reed Johnson: .345/.441/.414/.855 Derrek Lee: .345/.387/.517/.904 Felix Pie: .333/.333/.667/1.000 Geovany Soto: .556/.667/.889/1.556 Ryan Theriot: .458/.500/.625/1.125 Wow
  12. Subscribe? It's just a saying.... Do you really think eating an apple each day will insure that you will never need to visit a doctor?
  13. Actually no, I've never heard of that. Is that something that's widely acknowledged? "Nearly every team wins 60 games and loses 60 games, it's what you do with the other 42 games." Or something like that. Not sure how UMF came up with 60 variables though. Either I: 1) Can't count or 2) Was including the playoffs. ...yeah...the second one...
  14. Actually no, I've never heard of that. Is that something that's widely acknowledged? I think it's something more like everybody will win 60, lose 60 and what you do the rest of the 40 is what matters. Yeah whoops, I can't count.
  15. What about the game against the Mets, where the Cubs had a 5-1 lead in the 9th and Dempster blew it? I hated life for 2 days after that game.
  16. Anyone ever hear of the 60/60/60 saying? 60 wins, 60 losses, 60 variables. I know its the game thread forum, and I too have been criticized for letting my immediate emotions fly here, but some days our pitchers aren't going to get the job done, or our hitters aren't going to hit with RISP. It happens. If we go quietly, we went 3-1 against everyones NL Favorites, and last years NL Champs. Not bad.
  17. OK This is the 4th time I believe in the last 4 games which we had the bases loaded with 0 outs and only scored 1 run or less. This is something that has gone on with this team for years. What is the run expectancy with bases loaded 0 outs and the top of the order due up?
  18. If Fontenot doesn't get the run in, I'm going to hate him.
  19. http://icanhascheezburger.files.wordpress.com/2007/06/sky-is-falling.jpg omg the Cubs might go to 15-7, after going only 3-1 against the NL favorites and last years NL champs! I'm jk, actually the reaction on the board has been rather levelheaded
  20. I'll take 1 run and 6 hits through six any day Yeah but that doesn't take into account the hard hit balls that he's given up. The numbers look good, but don't reflect the quality of his pitching. Boy, we're getting picky these days. Frankly, I don't care how we get the other team out. one run given up in 6 innings is a really nice pitching performance in my book. That's...fine but he...really...didn't....ahh nevermind. See?

  22. He hasn't seen enough of you. Only 81 pitches through 7. He's going 9 unless we put up a crooked number.
