    I see that Dusty is letting a young pitcher pitch well over 100 pitches to salvage a game in a 3 game series. In other news, the sun will come up tomorrow.

    Really? Absolutely. Bad strategic moves + burning out good pen pitchers in non-critical situations + overreacting to short samples constantly. Lou's not the best strategist in the world, I agree, but he makes up for it in other ways.

    Really? Yeah. He really does suck. Better than Dusty Baker doesn't mean good. I disagree, and I'm as pessimistic and negative as they come.

    2004 White Sox: 865 runs 2005 White Sox: 741 runs 2005 White Sox added (as starters): Pierzynski, Podsednik, Dye, Iguchi, Carl Everett 2005 White Sox lost (as starters): Davis, Borchard, Thomas, CARLOS LEE, Valentin 2004 White Sox: Gave up 834 runs 2005 White Sox: Gave up 645 runs 2004 White Sox: 83 wins 2005 White Sox: 99 wins So the Sox upgraded at catcher, RF, 2B, DH and 2B and STILL scored 124 runs less than the year before. But yeah Podsednik was the key to that team. How can anyone think that the pitching giving up 189 less runs than the year before had anything to do with their successes?

    I've been pleasantly surprised by Theriot of late. Hopefully he keeps it up. He's been getting good contact and hitting to the gaps. Definitely a nice hot streak. I don't think he'll give us Neifi like production, but probably more like replacement level at SS.

    Looks like Dusty hasn't completely fine tuned his "give up" lineup yet. All he needs to do is replace Griffey with Hatteberg or something and then it looks good.

    Why do I feel like the longer we wait to hear word of the severity of the injury, the worse its going to be? I'm sure we'll find out in the pregame.

    Ooo, I didn't even know there was a political debate on tonight. What channel? So I'll be flipping from the Cubs, the Bulls last game (yes I'm a glutton for punishment and fiercely loyal through thick and thin), and this debate. Fun night ahead!

    Johnson is a platoon player. Look at his L/R splits. One thing this injury should NOT do is parlay a platoon player into an everyday spot. I think the real reason why Murton isn't called up is because he has very similar splits as Reed. Which begs the question, why did we sign Reed when we already have Murton? For the record...Murton and Johnson's career splits: Murton vs. RHP: .280/.346/.425/.771 Murton vs. LHP: .326/.399/.510/.909 Johnson vs. RHP: .267/.328/.382/.710 Johnson vs. LHP: .309/.373/.461/.834 So Murton is obviously the better player. Why don't we just trade for Frank Thomas and play him in left? He has better r/l splits than both of those guys, and since that's apparently all that matters, he'd be an all-star left fielder. ...because we don't already have Frank Thomas..? I'm not sure what your argument is.
