  1. Put the Cubs in front of the Brewers, and that's the one. I like your confidence :) Yet I think the Brewers match up better than the Cubs do this year. Lots of room for error though considering a lot of this is projecting better seasons from some of the Brewers younger players like Weeks and Gallardo, as well as their bullpen being not pathetic this year (if only average/below average).
  2. Very interesting that both of the White Sox Sunday games have the option of being on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball. I thought they weren't going to do any more night games with the Cubs/Sox
  3. As it stands right now I have 1. Brewers 2. Cubs 3. Reds 4. Astros 5. Cardinals 6. Pirates
  4. I really think we are going to camp with this team. BRob might get traded, but as for a second trade, I just don't see it happening over the course of a week. Not to many 'huge' trades are made with a week to go before camp.
  5. Their pitching alone will give them 60 wins, especially if they can pull off that trade for Crede. Trading for Crede doesn't sound like much, but he would be replacing Rich Aurilla...
  6. This is funny, I was reading a post from 2005 about the rumored Tejada-Prior deal in the 2005-2006 offseason, and this is one of the posts: Funny that even in 2005 there were Hill for Bedard swaps.
  7. Good call. It's not like I need a deeply-rooted personal history to enjoy a ball game. And I suppose there's no need to disavow my Rangers. Because with my luck, the minute I do so they'll start winning championships. Exactly. You can adopt the Cubs as your NL team. Just please don't become a White Sox fan.
  8. Welcome to the Forum! Unfortunately if most of your posts are spam like this, you won't be around long..
  9. Why hate the Cubs? Because they disrupt your life? I find that they don't really disrupt mine that much at all. It will take 5 minutes extra to get home from work on a game day (whether the traffic is leaving Wrigley or getting there), and most everywhere I go is unaffected by the Cubs. Then again, I live West of the park on Southport and rarely go East of Racine for any of my daily errands. BTW, the original poster said in a previous thread that he moved a few blocks away from the park. I think you'll like the area as long as you don't mind the minimal disruptions that game day causes.
  10. Yeah, I'm still deciding if I will one day steer my kid towards following the Cubs. That said, I'd much rather make one more Cubs fan than one more White Sox fan. So I would suggest the best way to 'convert' would be a spend a nice summer day at Wrigley Field. Also joining this message board is a start, but only if you know that speed is meaningless, leadoff isnt a position, and can define VORP and WARP. Otherwise, you'll come to hate us and consequently the Cubs.
  11. I don't think there's any debate.... Lets just offer Marshall, Gallagher and Cedeno to the Braves for Teix.
  12. I saw this posted on the OH forum and it made me laugh AM = MacPhail PA = Angelos
  13. I remember that game so vividly, I was winning by 5 points going into Monday night for my fantasy game. I only had Rex Grossman, he had no players left. So I can safely expect to win, right? Wrong He scores -6 points so I lose by 1 point and miss the playoffs by 1 game to the guy that beat me in that game. Ouch, thats a good fantasy story. I probably would have pulled him from the game, but I don't think anyone expects to get -6 points Prior to the game Rex had been tearing up the league though. Exactly, but in H2H if you already have a win, why bother to play other players on Monday night? Sure Total points is the tiebreaker, but a W is also a pretty good tie breaker. But like I said, up by 5 points, I would never expect Rex to get -6 points in that situation and would play him.

  15. Yay? So what your telling me is that Roberts to Chicago is close? Oh boy I am so excited.
  16. Again, I'm not saying the Sox have a great shot to be good. I am just saying they have a lot of pieces that if play up to reasonable (but optimistic) expectations, they can compete for at least a Wild Card. You're right, Gavin Floyd is no longer highly rated. I am not expecting him to be an all star or anything, but he could be a decent 5th starter. If they need to make a move they can probably pull one off at the deadline. Mostly I'm speaking out again people who think the White Sox are destined for 68 wins or something. They are much better than a sub-70 win team. I expect them to have at least 75 wins, but if everything breaks right, up to 90 wins.
  17. No rickrolls. Please read the board's guidelines -- linked in my sig. Thank you. I'm confused? The post was obviously a huge farce. I don't think he deceived anyone with his link.
  18. Please Pryor come to Michigan. I don't care about any other recruits.
  19. For which professional sport? 'cause it won't be baseball. Sounds like someone is forgetting 2005. Of course you are going to say 2005 was a tremendous fluke and you can't base your opinion on that, and you may be right. But like I've been saying all offseason, I think they have a shot. Not a very good one, but they have one. Their staff can either be really bad or really good. Floyd and Danks have to play to their potential, but if they do, their offense is good enough to lead it to a wild card.
  20. It may be polically incorrect but it is spot on. That's why I want mods to determine it's fate. It's spot on? I am not going to be a part of a fiery political debate, I just try not to get involved in those, and I'm sure you know this already but there are obviously other reason than these for why someone would vote for Obama. Which is why I said that I enjoy your humor, but its misguided.
  21. 2006 - Cardinals have a 20-3 lead, collapse and lose the the Bears 23-20 on Monday Night Football 2007 - Oklahoma has a 7 point lead with under 2 minutes left in the Fiesta Bowl and loses by 1 point in OT 2008 - The Patriots have a 4 point lead with 2:42 left as the Giants come back to beat the Pats by 3 Man, some big collapses in big games in the new University of Phoenix Stadium
  22. I love your humor, however misguided it is.
  23. 9 days until pitchers and catchers report!
