  1. Wow were they really drafting for a September bullpen arm?
  2. Mark Pawelek Ryan Harvey Bobby Brownlie Luis Montanez Ben Christensen
  3. Everytime I follow the Nationals, I marvel at how much they suck. Then I realize that we lost 2/3 to them :(
  4. I'm convinced, the Cardinals will win the World Series this year.
  5. BTW, after today, the Cardinals will have played the third easiest schedule in baseball this year. This is after including the Cubs for three games, which heavily spikes it up. The only 2 teams below them in SOS (and the team directly above them) are from the NL West, which has been beating up each other all year. Basically what I'm trying to say is, the Cardinals schedule is going to get much harder.
  6. Glaus 2 run homer. The luckiest team on Earth leads 2-0
  7. I honestly don't believe that Carp is going to come back as strong as he was before. 80% maybe.
  8. The only thing I want to know is if this year's first round pick will get to A ball before last year's pick? I got high hopes about Vitters and since he's struggled, I've been pretty apathetic towards this years draft.
  9. Traditionally, after a slow start, June is when Derrek would heat up. Yup, but normally I'd be worried about Soto more because it seems like he can't hit breaking pitches, but Derrek has just been awful lately. He needs to move down in the order until he figures it out. Pitchers are figuring out Soto, and hes going to have to adjust. This sounds like a job for Gerald Perry. I'm just upset because I remember when the Cubs were in Cincinnati (I think) I remember Len saying something to the effect of, the pitchers are avoiding Soto because he has the least holes in his swing and is the most dangerous hitter. Ever since the Nationals threw nothing but breaking pitches to him, he hasn't been the same. He has been able to hit the breaking pitch more since then, giving him a few fastballs again, but almost every AB I see vs. Soto, there are always a healthy diet of curves and sliders, etc.

  11. I'd really like it if Soto and Lee could pretend its April.
  12. Seriously? I doubt that's true. Everything Lou has done this season suggests that he wants to win today's game, and not think about tomorrow.
  13. Another thing....can't Marmol just get 2 games or more off at some point. Does he have to pitch in every big situation every game? Edit: Looks like its already been discussed.
  14. Hawk has already brought up the Cubs losing two seperate times since the game ended.
  15. Now we have to worry about which teams gained ground on us. Milwaukee is only 6 back..
  16. We beat him last Monday. At home. And all we got off of him was a wind aided HR in the first and almost nothing afterwards. Balls at Dodger Stadium at night carry almost as bad as Petco.
  17. Honestly, Lou should consider moving Lee down in the order until he snaps out of this slump. Move Lee to 5th or 6th and Soto 3rd, although he's not exactly hitting really well either. He's hitting .225 with a .645ish OPS over his last 31 games. That's almost 20% of the season he's been hitting with a sub .650 OPS
  18. I'm guessing that he figures since Lilly only pitched 3 innings in the last game he could be extended a bit.
  19. Our luck has to run out eventually right?
  20. Third straight inning with a runner on second and 0 outs. Why wasn't Eyre in? He's well over 100 pitches!
  21. What is this infectious? Jeez. You can go all year without seeing a balk, and the Cubs get 2 in 2 games.
  22. I don't think I can make it up til the end of this one. I am really tired from the first 2 games. Of course this one has to be the closest of the 3 games.
