  1. Dammit when I saw the bobble, I assumed Soriano would be safe.
  2. That .426 OBP looks awesome. I definitely think at this point and time he should be the starting catcher in the AS Game over Soto. McCann too.
  3. Pierre scraps his way to a run. Sucks that it will be unearned though.
  4. Good to see the Cubs have shorn up those fundamental problems they were having. I think Lou should schedule a practice tomorrow at Wrigley to work on fundamentals.
  5. And yet the ball has beaten the runner 8 of those times.
  6. I'm prepared, but I'll still be pissed off when it happens. I predict Single Walk Lineout Walk Single on an 0-2 pitch, 2 runs score. GIDP on a great play from Lee.
  7. A not worthwhile enough result to compensate for Lou's further security of the hit and run being an appropriate tactic 3 times every game.
  8. Man do I hate Jon Miller's gross overpronounciations. Aramees Ramirez Neifi Pear-ez
  9. UMFan fears success, we'll be 30 games over 500 in September and he'll be talking about it's not a team that can win in the playoffs. Seriously. The Cubs and Cards have played the same amount of home games. The Brewers are well on their way to being 13-20 on the road. I do fear success. My problem is I don't have perspective....sorry for the pessimism guys. I've tried to change it, but I've realized that its who I am and I've embraced it. :)
  10. Yup, and due to a heavy home schedule and good home field advantage, we've been able to build up a lead. Now we are going on the road more, and things will eventually even out. I hope I'm wrong, and I know that we're better than we've been in most years. But I don't think we are the unquestioned best team in the NL. Also, I predict the Dodgers make the playoffs this year if they can get one impact bat (which I realize isn't easy). Their pitching is really freaking good.
  11. Funny thing about the 2007 Brewers...they built up their record on a heavy home schedule with lots of sub .500 teams. Wonder if a similar thing will happen to this years Cubs if they prove that they can't win on the road consistantly like they have so far.
  12. Maybe he wants to get released? I would find a better way to go about it though.
  13. Looks like Collins isn't coming back afterall... http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-080606-chicago-bulls-doug-collins,1,1622480.story
  14. Foxsports.com did a nice piece on Soto today, talking about how he went from marginal prospect to leading All Star votegetting Catcher with help from.....Koyie Hill?!?! Slump or not, its good to see the emergence of someone from the Cubs farm system. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/8216254/Soto-does-it-all-for-Cubs
  15. FWIW, Bigbird at OH.com is saying that Roberts to the Bulls for the number 1 pick and Luol Deng is a done deal.
  16. Slump watch: Derrek Lee: .220/.255/.376/.631 over his past 33 games Geovany Soto: .204/.290/.398/.688 over his past 27 games Concerning because both players have been slumping at that rate for around 15-20% of the season Surge watch: Ryan Theriot: .444/.535/.472/1.007 over his last 10 games Aramis Ramirez: .338/.445/.559/1.004 over his last 40 games
  17. Win 1 of the next 3 and we secure our second winning road trip of the year!
  18. I will be landing in Vegas during about the 6th inning of this game. Hopefully I can wait through the cab line, check into my hotel room and get to the sports book before the end of it, but I doubt it. Edit: Yes this post was just an excuse to brag about going to Vegas.
  19. Brenly certainly is better at getting away with being critical of the Cubs.
  20. Sorry guys, the correct answer was: When Marmol, Howry and Wood's arms all fall off. July 19, 2008.
  21. So, when's the next time we blow a team out with the starter going at least 7? September 16, 2009
  22. Predict the next game where: -The Cubs win -Marmol, Howry and Wood don't pitch
  23. I agree, Marshall
  24. Soto is officially in a tailspin. How will we get him out of it??
