  1. Last night took quite a bit out of me. I'm such a drama queen...but I need to decompress tonight. I'll check to see who won in the morning.
  2. You should post what you posted early in today's game thread to get people off the ledge. It's after the game, no can do. (Honestly, I wonder what UMFan was like during the NBA Finals in the 90s.) Hey come on that post wasn't too irrational. Are any of those things I said not true? Yes. Cubs have 17 HR from the #3 spot (7th in NL) Cubs have .379 OBP from the #4 spot (3rd in NL) Cubs OPS with RISP is .811 (2nd in the NL) The RISP thing I'll give you. That's just been a trend in the small sample size since the break. The first 2 though show numbers that are heavily inflated by the first 2 months of the year. If you look at the numbers since June 1 you will see a big difference. Now while the numbers in April and May show the potential of this offense, the fact is, the overall team hitting numbers have declined in both Team OPS and Team OBP every single month since April. For the record, Lee has 2 HRs since June 1st and Ramirez has a .305 OBP since June 1st.
  3. On the bright side, our pythag record hasn't taken a hit, as we've outscore our opponents 11-8 since the second half started, despite a 1-3 record.
  4. Ramirez is 3 for his last 46 (.065) on the road, dating back to that White Sox series.
  5. Everyone has been ripping on Jason Varitek for his extended slump and blaming it on declining abilities. He is 18 for his last 133. Ramirez has now matched half of his slump, going 9 for his last 66

  7. Do I sound like a cliche Cubs fan when I blame it on the night games and the fact that the Cubs aren't used to them. They seemed to do pretty good during the day game Sunday
  8. Has anyone seen an entire team with such wild home/road splits? I'm seriosuly asking.
  9. Seriously what are we going to do about Ramirez? .138 over his last 16 games (9 for 65) and now hitting .271 for the season.
  10. I know we aren't this bad, but we have some major offensive issues. We drew 2 walks today but really most of our ABs were short and impatient. Our 3 hitter can't hit HRs Our 4 hitter can't get on base to save his life Our high priced RF is basically being platooned Our 7th inning guy is a gas can Our hitting with RISP is nonexistant, yesterday not withstanding. The only thing that really bothers me is that Ramirez and Lee are just not getting it done. I realize Lee has a +900 OPS over the last month, but his overall numbers for the year just aren't good enough. The rest of the issues can probably be rectified.
  11. How many teams do you think have 3-4 hitters with worse overall numbers than Lee and Ramirez?
  12. Cubs starters since the break: 8 IP 1 ER 6.1 IP 4 ER 8 IP 0 ER 7 IP 1 ER Total 29.1 IP 6 ER = 1.84 ERA Cubs record: 1-3
  13. Not Marquis and Lilly Im worried about. Nope but when we're pitching well in games and not winning, its going to really suck when we stop pitching well in games.
  14. Huh, they both had .869 OPS before that inning Amazing that we have the best record in the NL and not a single regular on the team with an OPS above .870
  15. Marquis and Lilly to finish off the series
  16. The rest of the Cubs do everything possible to make sure that it isn't orgasmic.
  17. Lets just say I haven't seen many popups or weak grounders, and I believe he only has 4 Ks.
  18. Another liner directly to Young. Holy hell
  19. Last year in reverse. It's gonna happen. If we can't score off the crappy 45 year old, our once 8.5 game lead is down to 2. We lead by 8.5? I think so 5.5 was our biggest lead this year He means over the Brewers
  20. This is why I grind my teeth when I say "at least we are swinging the bat well against this guy"
  21. Is there a way to ban the Cubs from NSBB if they don't?
  22. Last time Rammy snapped out of his long 0-fer it was a HR. Do it again.
  23. Is it? Or did we just see a hot first half and that's the end? I'm beginning to wonder. Well we finished 8th in the NL in runs scored last year and theoretically we got better in the offseason, so yeah. I also don't think that a team that led the NL in runs scored by a decent margin the first 60% of the season is a fluke. Maybe not as good as they've shown but certainly not the garbage we are watching right now.
  24. LOL yeah, his bullpen blew an 8 run lead for him denying him a win. In his second start, he pitches a no hitter into the 6th inning, and gets 0 runs of support.
  25. 9 more outs for the Cubs to work with. Randy Johnson at 71 pitches through 6 so unless he unravels he is going 8. If we lose this game, I am going to start to panic. The Cubs offense is better than this no walking, no patience, no hitting garbage that they've shown.
