Man the wounded list is really piling up. Obviously at this point of the season probably every player has something thats ailing them, but I can't believe how many players recently have missed time due to ailments -Soriano -Johnson -Ward -Edmonds -Fukudome -Theriot -Zambrano -Eyre Funny because the usual injury kings Ramirez and Wood are pretty darn healthy this year.
Well, any fan with half a brain would assume Hendry is very interested in Sabathia and is looking into it. I don't think this news really changes anything. Well I think he is implying that a source of his gave him that information.
I can totally see the Hendry press conference. "This guy is certainly a gamer. Now obviously he has had a tough start to the season, but we're pretty sure we've got a pitcher who is going to give us the type of pitcher performances that we need. This guy is a Cy Young winner who will obviously give us some strong innings this season."
Hence why split town doubleheaders are a horrible idea. I'm sure they will be getting a police escort, but even with that the traffic in Manhattan will be bad enough to get them there less than an hour before the game. Kinda funny that right now people are probably in Shea waiting for a game that will be played by 2 teams who are currently playing another game on the other side of town.
This. I agree. And for all the bitching we do about the Cardinals, after their best hitter, best starter, second best pitcher, former closer, SS, and C all missed time, they only played .500 ball too.
Remember when we went on that one month stretch where we didn't get blown out once? We are a Jim Edmonds HR from being blown out 3 of the last 4 games, assuming we don't come back in this one.
Yeah cause normally Z and Lee are terrible. No but Z's ERA has risen every year and his ERA last year was around 4. Lee had like 10 HRs in April and hit over .300. I know I'm being my usual irrational self, but c'mon this lead was built on some solid unexpected performances that are leveling out now. Yep we're done.............. hopefully we can stay ahead of the Stro's Haha, you act like no team has ever blew a big lead in June.* *note: I am not implying the Cubs are going to blow their lead. In fact, rational UMFan knows the Cubs will be fine
Maybe this will teach Lou a lesson that... DEMPSTER WAS A FREAKING CLOSER WHO AVERAGED LIKE 80 IP THE LAST THREE SEASONS AND DOESNT NEED TO TRY TO PITCH COMPLETE GAMES SO THAT HE CAN WEAR OUT HIS ARM IN JUNE
Are you saying we should let them keep scoring until the storm comes and the game is cancelled? Highly doubt they would call a game where one team is winning handily. If its 1-0 or 2-0 and its raining for 3 hours, then fine. But 4-0 with 2 on and 1 out in the third, they are going to give them every opportunity to play 5.

Remember in April and May when we were amazed at how well Dempster, Zambrano, Lee, Soto, Cedeno, etc were playing. Well umm tide just might be turning.
