  1. Premature celebration by us all here. Who knew there were 2 more innings left to hit.
  2. We blew a 3 run lead in the 8th today, we aren't invincible by any means.
  3. Wow...nice job Shane! The Boo Birds are out. 6 games up on STL?
  4. Sunday home games only I believe.
  5. He's much better at home than on the road. He has some recent success against us, but he hasn't pitched in Wrigley since 2005 (in a relief role). We should hit him.
  6. I don't see MiLB.com having full game logs for players, but Vitters has at least an 11 game hit streak with that double. The guys a beast.
  7. Best player ever
  8. Kinda frustrated that Z had to be shortened up to 5 innings today. I still don't understand why Z had to come in for the 8th inning last week in Milwaukee. The Cubs had a 7 run lead, and Z threw I think 103 pitches coming into that inning. Oh well, can't complain about a win. Has Reed hit a meaningless HR yet?
  9. Since I'm reporting on the Brewers game in the main game thread anyways... 2-0 Braves after 1. Sheets threw 36 pitches in the first inning alone. Cardinals play tonight on Sunday Night Baseball.
  10. 36 pitches thrown in the first for Sheets, but he only gives up 2 runs.
  11. Runners on the corners, 2 outs, 2-0 Braves, Sheets at 31 pitches in the first.
  12. 1-0 Bravos on a Kotsay double. Sheets already has 21 pitches through 1/3 of an inning.

  14. How close was that last fly ball? Sportsline said "Deep Right"
  15. I'm going to have to check the replay, but that looked like a straight steal. Straight steal on a 3-2 count.
  16. .347 BABIP in 08 that's not as high as i would've expected, actually. he's a really good fastball hitter; i guess his defense sucks, but when your catcher is OPS'ing over .900 you don't really worry about that. They have a guy do this every year. Sanchez was really good one year too. Wilson had a decent year. If he stays that good they will just trade him away. Their pitchers too with Snell, Duke, Oliver Perez, now possibly Maholm. Really weird team those Pittsburgh Pirates.
  17. Doumit has gotta be one of the most underrated hitters in baseball right now.
  18. Good location on that 0-2 fastball to McLouth
  19. .739 OPS vs lhp. if the cubs can get better production against lefties with him on the bench, it would be stupid to keep him in the lineup just because of how much he gets paid, come on dude. Yeah and who are they replace him with in the lineup? Ronny Cedeno and his .689 OPS vs. LHP
  20. Out of curiosity, why is Kosuke in a virtual platoon? Do think Lou is only giving him starts vs. RHP in order to get his bat going again, or is this something that he's going to be doing the rest of the year? $12 million for a platoon player seems stupid.
  21. Lilly's ERA will end the day at 4.36 if that runner doesn't score. If he can get it below 4 by the end of the year, I'd be impressed.
  22. Keep it coming. I'm watching the game, but I'm sure those who are watching on gameday really appreciate it!
  23. Wow, I went to the bathroom and grabbed an apple out of my fridge and expected to see Ted Lilly in the middle of a 20 pitch inning, and its already over.
  24. That's an amazing stat. Normally the stats make sense. Like when the Cubs have a much better record when they score in the first vs. not scoring, it make sense because it means not only did they score early, but they are probably swinging the bats decently. But when I see a SB, I don't think it has that much of a difference in the outcome of a game. I'd expect to see a better record when they steal a base vs. not steal a base, but not this big of a difference.
