  1. That pic isn't from last night. Nope, that picture is of Carlos Zambrano on Sunday after Gaudin stole his win.
  2. Holy hell. I thought he was retiring after getting released. I didn't even know he was in the minors anymore. That sucks :(
  3. I know, this is a time when I wish Kevin Hart was on the 25 man.
  4. Its bound to happen though. 5 games is a nice cushion to have right now. Who knows what the Brewers are going to do, but it really doesn't matter. The Cubs are 7-2 since the last game against FLA, winning 2 series in a row. If they can take these next 2 against Houston they will have won 3 straight series. That is the goal now with a 5 game lead. Milwaukee or STL won't come close if the Cubs can win the majority of the remaining series. Agreed...but I'm more or less looking forward to September as our victory tour as opposed to a fight to hang on dearly with a very tough schedule. Normally I'd point to our August home schedule as being in our favor, but the bottom line is, like I said before we are only 9-8 in our last 17 home games, and it's not like we've played to cream of the MLB crop. Those games are against Baltimore, Cincinnati, San Francisco, Florida, Pittsburgh, Houston. If we don't take advantage of this favorable schedule and get a 7-8 game lead into September, we might be hanging on for dear life. If we have an 8 game lead going into September and go 12-13 in the month, the Brewers would have to go 20-5 to catch us.
  5. But I'm not sure Eyre deserves to be DFA'd. I don't either, but if Lou is never going to use him or trust him, theres no point in sending down players that deserve to be on this team to the minors so he can sit longer and get traded for a lowly regarded minor leaguer.
  6. After Cotts' inning last night, I do not want to see him shipped to the minors. Marshall doesn't really deserve that fate either. Just DFA Eyre...you aren't using him anyways. Don't send a more deserving player to the minors so you can continue not using Eyre until he clears waivers and get some low minors scrub that will never contribute to the Cubs.
  7. Given how the season began, I'd like to win the division. But ultimately it doesn't matter one bit.
  8. Cubs are 9-8 in their last 17 home games Cubs are 10-7 in their last 17 road games
  9. I don't want to stand pat in these games, I want to gain games. The Brewers have 9 straight games vs. last place teams. We can't afford to accept not gaining ground when the Brewers lose. BTW, a lot of people calling a pitcher with a 3.63 ERA mediocre here...
  10. Forget what I said in the beginning of this thread, the Astros just have our number this year. If we win 1 of the next 2 I'll be happy.
  11. I'd honestly rather the Astros get some runs and blow us out than see that hack celebrate all over the field again. How many saves does he have to get against us this year geez...
  12. Is Lou taking a freaking nap?!?! Theres no excuse for letting 3 lefties hit vs. a lefty that inning. Especially 3 with woeful L/L splits.
  13. YES ANOTHER LEFTY LEFTY MATCHUP?!?!?
  14. Looks like the Cubs did absolutely nothing to change their approach during the delay.
  15. That, the 10th pitch of the night to Ward was the first that he didn't swing at
  16. Fontenot vs. LHP: .588 OPS Career Ward vs. LHP: .672 OPS Career We just wasted 2 of our remaining 12 outs.
  17. Why is Fontenot in against a lefty?
  18. Any idea at all how the wind is moving?
  19. Why do i feel like Lee is going to homer here?
  20. His 300th win came at SF, IIRC. 3000th K, after a lengthy delay vs. SF at Wrigley.
  21. Dane Placko said the tarp is coming off the field on FOX Edit: Whoops, looks like I'm late :(
  22. For a rain delay read, check out what Brewers fans are saying about this board: http://brewersfandemonium.yuku.com/topic/12495/t/Cubs-fans-message-board.html Some of the quotes:
  23. On ESPN, they said that an hour or so ago swirling winds were spotted in and around Wrigley Field, the lower concourse was temporarily evacuated, and ESPN's crew had to shut down their production and evacuate their trailer and announcing booth. That said, they still haven't called the game.
