  1. The Cardinals did have multiple 8 game losing streaks during their championship year, including one the last week of September.
  2. Anyone want to predict how many losses it will take for the Pessimism Police to back off and let posters in game threads admit they are worried about the teams play and wonder if it will stop?
  3. 10 straight balls if you include the INT walk
  4. To bring up.....................
  5. Just remember guys, we got Marquis and Marshall to salvage the series this weekend.
  6. Because the season is longer than 6 games. Yup, but its just astounding. The pitching and offense yeah, we were due for an unfortunate stretch where they both fail together. But the defense has been absolutely horrible and the fundamentals even worse.
  7. I just don't understand how a team that has scored the most runs in the NL, allowed the least runs in the NL and has widely regarded good defense and fundamentals, especially in the infield all the sudden blows up like this.
  8. Good to see the Cubs fundamentals are not a problem anymore
  9. Holy freaking hell are you kidding me??
  10. Is Chris Johnson going to get enough carries to make a difference? I have him to, but was planning on waiting 2-3 weeks to see how that situation plays out
  11. No offense, but how hard are magic numbers to comprehend? I am not singling you out at all LLF, but it just seems like no one understands the concept of it. All a magic number is is # of Cubs wins + # of 2nd place team's losses to clinch a division title/wild card. So a magic number can be reduced by a Cubs win or a Brewers loss for the division. A magic number 18 can be achieved by 18 Cubs wins, 18 Brewers losses, or 9 Cubs wins and 9 Brewers losses, or any combination in between.
  12. http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=2027954#post2027954 Sigh Welcome to the board! Yeah I browse that site a lot and I am still looking for the first sign of humanity over there.
  13. Yea, they're saying it was self-inflicted. I would cry if a current remember of this team hurt himself by doing something like that. Or if we lost our #2 pick in the draft from last year because he decided to not only ride a motorcycle, but ride one without even really knowing how to ride one. That crap still pisses me off. That might've cost us a shot at Carmelo or Wade. Please don't bring that up anymore. But hey we got Rose now!
  14. Yea, they're saying it was self-inflicted. I would cry if a current remember of this team hurt himself by doing something like that.
  15. Anyone see the rumor that he injured himself swinging a bat into a wall
  16. Carroll's revised post-MRI take:
  17. Despite losing 5 in a row, the Cubs took over the least runs allowed in the NL and are 1st in runs scored and 1st in runs allowed hahaha
  18. Am I missing something? Don't the Brewers still have a 4 game lead in the Wild Card? Do they think the Phillies will really be 4 games better than them over the last 22 games? If the Brewers go 11-11, the Phillies would have to go 15-7 to tie, 16-6 to win.
  19. If anyone is interested, here is the Brewers ticket signup. It will be available tomorrow. Just in case the Brewers and Cubs meet in the NLCS: http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/news/press_releases/press_release.jsp?ymd=20080904&content_id=3418313&vkey=pr_mil&fext=.jsp&c_id=mil
  20. My friend who is a Tigers fan just IMed me saying "Oh man...I just read about Z, thats not good. You guys still think you can win it?" Stupid ESPN
  21. Didn't Arizona do a decent job of selling baseball to an area full of retired Cubs/everyone else fans? I get that Phoenix is a bigger metro area, and perhaps has more lifelong residents than retirees (though there are a ton of old folk), but still. It's all in the execution, and it's obviously been botched in south Florida. Phoenix was smart enough to have a brand new stadium on the first day of the team's existence, which drew initial interest That and the stadium was retractable for those 120 degree summer days, and they placed the park in a centrally located spot right in downtown Phoenix. Even with all that, Arizona has had their attendance problems. If the made the DBacks play at an outdoor park in Gilbert, they would probably be in the same boat as the Marlins.
