  1. Lilly doesn't have to pitch until next Sunday. I don't see the harm in letting him stay in until he gives up a hit.
  2. 2-2 Twins/Royals. Royals have the bases loaded and 0 outs. Looks like the Twins are choking their season away.
  3. Ted Lilly season ERA is 4.09 as we speak To compare, Carlos Zambrano's is 3.91
  4. I definitely think Marquis should come out of the bullpen today to relieve Lilly. We need to see how he handles this role at least once before the playoffs.
  5. LOL!!! Lilly just missed a grand slam by about 10 feet
  6. Interesting. I hope his shoulder is ok Lou did this last year with Lilly (started him for 2 innings and then had him pitch on "3 days rest" in Game 2), and Lilly looked awful in the playoffs. I love that Lilly went from our number 2 starter to our number 4 starter. And Rich Hill went from our 3rd starter to the Rookie League... And Wood went from 1st starter to Sham Closer. And Prior went from our 2nd starter to...er...the DL And Maddux went from our 3rd started to the Padres to the Dodgers. Three Finger Brown went from our 1st starter to dead
  7. Michigan and Texas A&M are both so bad because they have stubborn coaches that refuse to adapt their schemes to their personnel. It's not stubborn in Michigan's case. It's instilling a new offensive system. Everyone knew Michigan was basically punting this year to get the personnel used to running the spread. Obviously the players at key positions aren't suited for the spread, but by the time we get people who can play it well, the rest of the program will have already had a year of experience running it. Would they not be better running a different system? Why not recruit for a new system and install it when the players can actually run it? Michigan has too much talent -- even this year -- to "punt" a season. It's not what's best for this year's team. It's stubborn in my book. I can see your side, but I really don't mind at all. They hired a coach who is known for running the spread. It takes time for a team to completely shift its offensive philosophies. Maybe the QB or the WRs might not be there for years 2 and 3, but the coaches might, a guard might, I know the RBs might be there. With Lloyd Carr leaving, and a large class of players leaving, it was the perfect time to strip down and start anew. Jim Tressel did the same thing when he took over OSU, and it worked out well for him. I just don't like seeing Michigan bottom out. Nor do I think a whole lot of Rich Rodriguez. Oh I don't like it either. I feel like Michigan sports in general is fading away. Basketball used to be relevant almost every year, and now its embarrassingly bad. Seriously, no NCAA tournament appearances since 97-98? Now football is "bottoming out". I'm just worried that the Michigan name will be tarnished and Rodriguez won't be able to recruit the talent we need to dominate again, and we'll end up being Notre Dame in 5-10 years. At the same time, I'm willing to give this a chance before panning it. I really wish we would have stolen Les Miles though.

  9. This is hilarious. Michigan gets a TO at the Wisconsin 48. First play Threet runs the option and fumbles the pitch, Wisconsin recovers.
  10. Ted Lilly has given up 1 hit in his last 9 innings at Miller Park

  12. Watching the scrubs play makes me really appreciate the defense the Cubs have this year.
  13. I knew Michigan was going to be bad this year, but I didn't think they would be this bad.
  14. 56 games with a pitcher getting a hit this year? wow
  15. Dammit! Stupid GR double. Nice work TLill

  17. Hmm...Hoffpauir strikes out, and Ward hits a HR. Nice!
  18. Looks like Fred is getting some work in before the postseason.
  19. How in the name of logic do the umpires rule that Molina is out of the game. Are you serious? What a moronic decision.
  20. The Dodgers worry me quite a bit (but it's me so..) The Dodgers have the best ERA of ANY team against the Cubs this year (2.49) Their best starters have all shutdown the Cubs this year (except Billingsley, who has been a lot better in the second half). Lowe especially has pretty much had his way with us. If we play them, expect all low scoring games that will be decided by timely hitting and the pen. On first glance, I say the Cubs win in 5, but with the games all likely being close and low scoring, one or two key plays or ABs can shift the series either way. Here are the Dodgers starters against the Cubs this year: Lowe: 2 GS, 1-0 1.93 ERA, 14 IP, 10 H, 4 BB, 3 ER, 1.00 WHIP Kuroda: 2 GS, 1-0, 0.59 ERA, 15.1 IP, 11 H, 3BB, 1 ER, 0.91 WHIP Billingsley: 2 GS, 0-1, 4.91 ERA, 11 IP, 11 H, 5 BB, 6 ER, 1.45 WHIP Kershaw: Haven't faced
  21. More importantly, the Cubs are .500 for the month... we've had a winning record every month this year, and need 2 wins to keep that going.
  22. If CC has to pitch tomorrow he'll have pitched 4 times in 12 days. I don't care how strong his arm is, he's going to see some effect from that. I am not at all convinced that Sheets is healthy, and I think he'll be ineffective even if he does pitch in the playoffs. Gallardo is good but theres no way he's going to be able to pitch more than 5 innings, and I suspect that at some point he'll go through a typical dead arm period and get lit up. The Brewers don't scare me one bit.
