  1. It is bad in some areas we are seeing. Our bench is pretty bad, our depth is pretty bad, the backend of our bullpen is pretty bad. As optimistic as we're all trying to be, I don't think we will see these trends reverse themselves unless we make changes.
  2. Ugh this team resembles the 2005 team right now. Tons of crappy relievers that are forced into action, defensive lapses constantly, and a hit or miss offense. David Patton might as well be Cliff Bartosh right now.
  3. Just think, if we have Ramirez in the game, assuming he would have been in a better position to catch that Haren chopper, it would still be a tied game and we could hope for the chance of Haren getting out of the game due to a PH
  4. It reminds me of how the Bears play when they are protecting a lead late in the game.
  5. They really need to slow this game down and in a hurry.
  6. I feel more upset about being outplayed all game now. They are dominating the Hawks all over the ice right now.
  7. Uh oh, that didn't take long.
  8. Bad night to be Geovany Soto. Can't get a hit to save his life, can't throw out any baserunners, and his pitchers have given up 5 runs.
  9. I gave (and still give) Hendry the benefit of the doubt on all of Hendry's very questionable offseason signings, but so far everything has turned out horrible. Gathright is absolutely worthless. I am not sure the Nationals would have Joey Gathright on their team, much less the Cubs.
  10. Seriously....he's looked awful at times in the last 3 seasons with the Hawks, but he is making his signing worth it with these performances.
  11. Thank God for the Hawks and Bulls. Hopefully by the time their seasons are over and I start focusing primarily on the Cubs they will be in the midst of their big winning streak that will be coming.
  12. With so many offensive weapons out with injuries, we absolutely HAVE to get good starting pitching, otherwise theres just no chance of winning unless your offense happens to explode like yesterday. The injuries are really hurting us right now offensively and defensively. We really need to get these guys back before we get too far behind. I'm still pretty confident this bunch is going to win over 90 games and make the playoffs, but that is assuming that we actuallly have our star players not getting random injuries all year.
  13. What does yesterday's result have to do with today's? Did you expect us to score 10 runs off Dan Haren?
  14. Ouch. If we can't get back into this one, its back to 4 GB St. Louis. C'mon Ted.
  15. That was one of the most annoying plays that I've ever seen. That just sucks. I am not sure I see the Cubs getting 2 more runs of Haren, considering they've only had what 1 base runner in the first 4 innings.
  16. So since this was ruled caught stealing 2-5 and then E5, does it count as the opponent stealing a base? Nope
  17. KOSUKE!!!!! NICE THROW! I had a feeling that was going to happen with Kosuke having ample time to get in position. I couldn't believe how early the ball got there though.
  18. SOB Fontenot, hold onto that ball dammit.
  19. Cardinals won again. They are 12-1 against teams not named the Cubs or Pirates, and 5-5 against the aforementioned teams.
  20. I have to agree, the first few games of the series the Hawks were the same team that struggled down the stretch in March. The last few games of the series they've looked like the "We're up 4-0 in the first period and never lose" Hawks of December and January. If they win tonight and continue playing like this, I think we can definitely take down Vancouver.
  21. OMG that was a thing of beauty!! You couldn't draw that up better.
  22. Yeah I don't like him hitting 4th at all, but Lou has no choice but to play him. Not debating that he belongs in the lineup... what are our other options, Joey Gathright? (.263/.324/.307 vs righties for his career, for the record) But if you have to have him face a righty, it's inexcusable to have him batting this high in the lineup. I know Soto is struggling, but he should be in that 4 slot tonight. Yeah in fact, trying Soto in the 4 spot might just be the spark needed to get him out of his slump.
