  1. On offense we need someone who can back up 3B/SS/2B and we need to improve the bench. Basically we need Mark DeRosa, but since he isn't out there who else fits that description. For pitching, we obviously need some pen help, and it would help for it to be a lefty. Actually a lefty and a righty would be nice. Other than that we are fine. Lee will come around. He'll never be 2005 Lee or even 2007 Lee, but I think we'll end up getting .280/.350/.470 out of him, which is fine because we supposedly have plus offense at other positions. Soto will come around, he may not put up last years numbers but he'll be fine.
  2. You do realize his last 2 seasons he had a really bad elbow injury that allowed him to play but not at 100%? His numbers may have been even better the last 2 years had he been 100%, especially the power numbers. And he missed like 4 weeks in 2007 with an oblique injury and 2 weeks last year with an injury I forgot.
  3. I don't buy momentum in a series where the home team has won all the games. What is it they say? It isn't a series until the home team loses a game.
  4. With the Cardinals playing as well as they are, I'll take a split of the 6 games. We'll make up the other games later in the season. Go Cubs!
  5. Our starters have been great? Harden - 4.20 ERA 1.27 WHIP Marshall - 4.50 ERA 1.42 WHIP Zambrano - 4.85 ERA 1.50 WHIP Dempster - 4.88 ERA 1.42 WHIP Lilly - 2.41 ERA 0.87 WHIP
  6. Wow that was majestic. Have fun back in colorados system
  7. Seriously I think soriano would have had to play 2b if theriot left the game. Only ppl on bench are hill and hoff.
  8. Who would have taken over at ss if theriot had to leave?
  9. 86 wins would be terrible considering what this team is worth. Agreed. But playing at a 86 win pace over 15 games is by no means a terrible start.
  10. Now Aaron miles I will hate on after 16 games. Has the guy had one good ab al year. He needs to be dfa'd and have jim hendry apologize for making such a dumb decision.
  11. how is this a terrible start? 8-7 is not great but it's not at all terrible. It's an 86 win pace.
  12. we'll find out in 146 games! What has this Cubs team shown that shows they can be a great team this year? Lee is aging fast, Soto still can't hit, our bullpen is a complete epic failure, our rotation isn't as good as last year, Milton Bradley was a horrid signing thus far, Mike Fontenot and Ryan Theriot are sub-par, our bench is anorexic, etc. 16 games and we at worst a .500 team after today. If you don't think that they are capable of much more you will at some point this season. I just think this team has too many holes. Much more than last year. There are holes but the core of this team is still there. And as long as we are somewhat competitive we have the resources to fix those holes in season. It's hard to evaluate a team when they are playing like this since everything seems like a negative. But since the cubs haven't played particularly well at all this season you have to wait well more than 16 games to judge this team.

  14. I'm assuming at some point our luck with risps will change right?
  15. I prefer someone other than soriano in the 3 spot
  16. Probably our 3 best overall players won't be in this game. I'm gonna guess Marmol and Ramirez are back by midweek, and who knows when Bradley will be back.
  17. You mean for the fraction of the season that Ramirez will probably be out I intended if both Ramirez and Brasdley have to miss any amount of time. Bradley really needs to take some DL time if hes going to get better. Well that's not going to happen since he PH tonight and again reset his DL timeline.
  18. Well a pitcher does require a lot of body parts working in motion in order to throw 95 miles an hour with pinpoint control. If one piece isn't working, it can mess up everything else. same goes for a quarterback, but they play hurt. They also get pulverized by 280 lb. monsters every Sunday. You can throw a football without the same zip and pull it off by changing the gameplan. A 95 MPH pitcher cannot survive throwing 78 MPH because he can't get a full leg kick to get full power on his pitches.
