Man it would be so awesome if Billy Donovan went to Kentucky. As a coach of the Bulls he's whatever, but the Bulls just need to do something different and Billy was always more revered in the college ranks.

Definitely feel a lot better that since the game resumed the Cubs got another run and they’ve gotten through most of the heart of the Dodgers order once without any damage

It does suck that this has to happen when Imanaga was pitching really well and only at 43 pitches through 4 innings. Easily could have gone 7 today and possibly longer

It is what it is. I’m not sure what you prefer, the game to be called and restarted or to be finished and tax the pen. It’s just the reality of the situation. The Cubs have an off day Thursday and they are restarting with a 6 run lead and 2 on and 1 out so ideally they can manage this without having to burn the heart of the pen. It’s the dodgers though so we’ll see

Watch them suspend the game and then the Dodgers score 9 runs when it’s resumed and win

I’m trying to think of the last time a Cubs game started and had at least a couple innings played and then was washed out. I’m sure I have to be missing a couple games but the last one I remember is the Eli Marrero game in 2003

No sense in being overly pessimistic. If the score was 0-0 I’d agree they may wash it out but at 6-0 they’ll try their hardest to get through the game. The Dodgers have a short trip to Minnesota for a night game tomorrow. The Cubs have a night game on the west coast but given their 6-0 lead will probably be more open to waiting it out

Dammit. Definitely gonna be raining for a quite a bit. Guessing Imanaga will be done unfortunately whenever we resume.

I cant remember too many situations where they have the grounds crew come out mid-inning to dry the field but don't actually bring out the tarp and make it an official rain delay. They really want to make sure this game gets in it seems.

Looks like the wind is kind of blowing out today too. I know the post up there suggests crosswinds, which may be accurate. My phone app says 14 MPH from the Southeast which suggests fly balls to LF will be aided by the wind

On the plus side, today was the first game all season (11 games) that the Dodgers offense was held to less than 5 runs.

2 seconds before the last pitch was thrown I thought to myself "well at least we have Happ up and he probably won't chase at a terrible pitch to end the game". Whoops.
