  1. It's being talked about in 4 different threads now. My thread (The Juice is Squeezed), the celebrity death thread, for some reason the NFL draft thread, and now this one lol.
  2. Of all the coaches Kentucky could have hired, he's certainly one of them.
  3. So our rotation right now is Imanaga, Wicks, Assad, Brown, Pray for rain
  4. Thanks for this breakdown. I understand that at his age its possible his command is faltering due to decline, but I can also recall times in the past when Kyle's command has faltered for a stretch and he's been able to correct it during the season. Has the movement/spin rate of his pitches also declined? Looking at those charts its alarming how off his command is, but hoping that the lack of velocity drop off is a sign that it's correctable.
  5. I think it’s the other way around. The Cubs will have trouble making the postseason due to depth issues/number of sucky player issues. But if the team makes the postseason they could go deep because of their hitting and some solid starters and 1-2 decent relievers. that said it’s a long season and there is plenty of opportunity to improve that depth
  6. Is it possible Jose Cuas isn’t good?
  7. I still think it was defensible and still am not 100% convinced he is washed but certainly feeling less confident in that as more datapoints are added
  8. I’m still pissed about Monday. This game should just be gravy
  9. Fitting on a night where the Bulls clinched their 6th losing season in the last 7 years
  10. 8-3 would have been sweet but whatever good win
  11. 5:40 is such a weird start time tomorrow. Essentially a late afternoon start in San Diego but it basically works out like a night game on the East Coast for Cubs fans (which usually start around 6pm)
  12. I’m sure you do when it’s your first
  13. The 'historic' reference was about tying a record for most games lost with a lead in the 8th inning in one month last September. That horsefeathers gives you scar tissue.
  14. This is the second 6+ run implosion in the late innings while holding a large lead in the last week. I don't expect it to happen twice a week for the rest of the year, maybe there isn't another one all year and this was just a weird quirky blip, for now its definitely something a bit alarming. Not trying to get into 'sky is falling' mode because its not but given how historically bad the Cubs pen was last September, this is the last thing I wanted to see to start the year.
  15. Not gonna lie, while I was pissed off last night, I’m a jerk and was looking forward to waking up and see everyone’s reaction that didn’t stay up to see the collapse.
  16. Yeah sadly Adbert has lost my trust. I still think he has the best stuff in the pen and can regain my trust but I no longer feel confident when he's in the game where last year for much of the season I felt "just get it to Adbert to finish it off"
  17. 2 baserunners in the last 5 innings, one of them immediately cancelled out by a double play. Cubs just seemed to stop playing in the 5th inning lol
  18. So first 10 games of the season: 1. Blow a 1 run lead in the 9th inning and lose 2. Blow a 6 run lead in the 8th inning but come back to win 3. Blow an 8 run lead in the 6th inning and on track to lose There is literally no one in the pen I feel comfortable with right now. I know I'm partially overreacting to the fact that we blew an 8-0 lead, but horsefeathers this is rough to watch. You cant tee up Darvish like that and lose, especially with TBD going against Musgrove and Hendricks against Cease the next 2 games.
  19. I knew he was going yard after the first pitch almost hit him
  20. Look I'm not a baseball savant but I think walking the first batter of every inning with a 1 run lead is not really the best way to go about things.
  21. Especially because while they did solidify last year, they didnt have any depth at all and it cost them their entire season when the top guys got hurt/burned out. And I get that theres promising young talent in the minors but responding to that collapse by adding whatever Almonte is and Neris while losing Fulmer was just perplexing. Hopefully it ends up working out.
  22. Counsell walking to the mound wishing he had a Hader or Williams to call on, but realizes his options are Neris and Leiter.
  23. Go down 1-2-3 and then walk the first Padres hitter on 4 pitches is certainly sub-optimal
  24. 10 games in and we've already blown a 9th inning lead and lost, blown a 6 run lead in the 8th inning but managed to win, now given up 7 runs in the 6th inning after starting the inning with an 8 run lead. Exciting stuff. Cubs usually figure the pen out eventually (even last year, until they all got burned out), but damn I really wish we did more in the offseason.
