    Yay now we get tentative, don't get injured Forte this year. So the Bears are going to play a season nearly $20 mil under the cap. Thanks Jerry. We'll be sure to remember who made this possible when our season falls short due to one or several fatal flaws. Personally, I don't think giving Forte (or any RB) a huge pile of money is a great idea. That said, I do think he has outplayed his contract and have a hard time being against rewarding him. I just don't want him to go to FA without a deal. I'm just annoyed because I kept hearing the Bears didn't spend more in FA in part because a chunk of that cap space was going to Forte. Now we are just sitting here 17-18 million under with no desire to spend it. It is possible that Forte was being unreasonable with his demands though.

    I guess Major Wright has to wait a bit longer to get his shot. He looked really good early in the preseason but wasnt as impressive later on. Will be a good 3rd safety this year hopefully. Meriweather-Harris is a pretty good safety pairing.

    In a win no less. At one point this year I thought that the Bulls might end up with more wins than the Cubs. 3 more wins and that can't come true, plus we'd avoid a 100 loss season. Yay?

    That works for me. Means I don't miss any of the game. Pretty solid opening game. You have to be thrilled with the defense in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. We scored 34 points without really needing Denard to do anything. Sent from my MOTWX435KT using Tapatalk Agreed. Shaky start on defense but really really picked it up later in the game. They actually looked like a real Michigan defense.

    So um...Michigan wins The game was called with 1 minute or so left in the 3rd quarter. I can't say I've ever seen a football game called due to weather.

    Yeah I believe he is amongst the worst closers in baseball this year. He's still right up there amongst the most blown saves in the league.

    I don't know. The last time they were legit national title contenders was in the mid-90s (save that one year around 2006). Most years they are mediocre or bad. Most people who are in college right now don' have much of a recollection of the ND glory days. Hell, I barely have much of a recollection of when ND was great as I started watching college football in the Ron Powlus days.

    Wow, a INT return for a TD and a fumble recovery for a TD in one game for Brandon Herron. Good to see some stellar performances on defense

    200 yards of offense for western michigan in the first half.

    Was Desmond Clark an expected cut? I find it funny that in Madden 12, Desmond has by far the best rating of all Bears TEs. Also Frank Omiyle has a 75 at LT, and the starter Webb has a 69

    You fire the GM and then before hiring a new one resign the mediocre farm director. I bet Crane Kenney had something to do with this.

    Damn, I come home 15 minutes late for the start of the Michigan game and already their D has given up a touchdown. I guess I shouldnt be surprised tho.

    Exactly. And the analysts hang on this "faced 3 3rd string QBs last year.". The three teams they are referring to are the Lions, Dolphins and Vikings. Do those analysts really think it was that much of a break that Cleo Lemon or whoever it was started against the Bears instead of Chad Henne? I can understand the argument if we beat the Packers without Rodgers or the Eagles without Vick, but come on.

    Damn, I really liked him coming out of college. Could he be a candidate for a practice squad? I'm not really sure how that works exactly. They are considered members of the Bears organization, but if another team wants to put a practice squad player on their 53 man roster, the practice squad player is like a free agent and allowed to sign. They arent allowed to take another team's practice squad players and bring them to their own practice squad though.

    Everytime the Bears were brought up in that podcast, the refrain was "everything went right for them last year, weak schedule, third string QBs, no injuries" That's all they think about the Bears. They don't talk about how much we improved after the bye week. They don't talk about how we beat the Eagles rather handily (final score closer than game) back when Vick and the Eagles were considered unbeatable and expected to destroy us, beat the Lions in Detroit the week before Detroit started their 4 game winning streak to end the season, put up 34 points on the Jets defense in a win, beat the Packers in a primetime game and were seemingly the only team to make Aaron Rodgers look rather pedestrian at times in all 3 games. That's the problem with national pundits. They can't sit and watch all 32 teams and make impressions, so teams get labeled, and with few exceptions, groupthink takes over and everyone says the same thing. As a national fan, when they think of the Bears they probably think "jackass quitting QB throwing interceptions like crazy, awful offensive line (from watching the Giants game), no named receivers, aging defense, no way are they going to be good". Whatever, if there's one thing we've learned about the "experts" is that they are rarely ever accurate.

    At the end of this Simmons podcast, the guy who wrote the afore mentioned pretenders article says: "The Bears might be the worst team in football this year. They are that bad" Geez. I cannot see a defense led by Urlacher Briggs and Peppers even being close to the worst team in football. They might go like 7-9 if things don't work out but not 4-12. As questionable as Lovie has been at times, he has only 1 season where the team has finished worst than 7-9, and that was way back in 2004, his first season as a head coach.
