  1. This is game 6 NLCS level choking for the Canucks here in terms of how much misery this will bring them if they lose. Obviously the Cubs blew a 3-1 lead, and this is the championship round, but I feel good in saying I know what the Canucks are going through right now. But I'm still taking pleasure in it!
  2. Dammit, I want Vancouver to lose of course but just thinking of those jerkass Boston fans having a riot to celebrate their Stanley Cup title makes me sick. Just not as sick. Bruins winning = flu, canucks winning = cancer
  3. lol good stuff. As long as you stay healthy this year, do whatever the hell you want.
  4. I dont know you tell me. You brought that up.
  5. Actually, it's very feasible given the FA available after this season and 2012. There's nothing wrong with a big money team like the Cubs "throwing cash" at FA. The key is usually throwing it at the right FA instead of usually overpaying for middling talent. Like Julio Lugo, John Lackey, JD Drew and Marco Scutaro?
  6. Yeah well, umm Chicago has had all their teams at least reach the conference finals during that time frame....all 5 teams if you want to tack on 2 more years. Cubs - 2003 (NLCS), Sox - 2005 (WS Champs), Blackhawks - 2010 (SC Champs)Bears - 2011 (NFC CG), Bulls - 2011 (ECF). If the Bulls would have beaten the Heat we could have said we've had a team in all 4 sports advance to the championship round in the last 6 years.
  7. There we go Starlin! is that his first walkoff hit?
  8. Where did I say that? I barely ever start threads, but I find myself giving opinions all the time which are often attacked with 4 word responses from people who have barely shared an original thought of their own. Anyways, it's not really that big of a deal, just something I wish would happen less.
  9. He should have been more animated with that outburst. It's important to get fans on your side.
  10. its this. this has happened to me too often here. This is why I feel I have to be painstakingly clear and put more time/effort than I want into posting. And so I lurk, appreciating the great content and humor that is available here and dismissing the petty arguments since I'm no longer in them. Keep it up boys, you have a fan. I agree with that. Certain people here thrive on weeding out that one part of an argument or point that doesn't agree with them and then just go to town on it. I can't count how many times I've seen a long, well thought out, bold (aka going against the popular opinion) argument presented and the response is a 4 word sarcastic response or a one sentense reply where one point of the article is exaggerated beyond belief as a way to mock the argument. I can understand the frustration of having to discuss a topic that's been beaten to death 1000 times without sarcasm and humor, but some of the scenarios I can think of weren't overly discussed. I guess I just wish if people were going to be sarcastic, that they are sarcastic and then post their beliefs on the topic. Some people live for jumping on other people's arguments, and yet I notice they themselves almost never initiate a discussion topic themselves. They'd rather hide in the corner and popout to interject sarcasm from other people's opinions than put themselves out there for others to possibly disagree with. My guess is that this is partially why there are so many 5 word sarcastic mocking responses out there because its hard to ever be on the defensive end if you never give people something to disagree with. Wah, people are mean. I didnt say they were mean, I'm saying they don't contribute much to the discussion by adding a short sarcastic response to a reasonable yet unpopular argument that's well written.
  11. Compared to how the Canucks have acted and talked during this series, this is nothing.
  12. I like the part of the article where Hendry basically admits he's been a failure

  14. At least trying to deny what was obvious to anyone that followed the Heat and their antics close enough this season.
  15. Boston fans are not just the 35,000 who showed up to Fenway the day you were there. Their numbers have grown exponentially the past decade, and with the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics, and now potentially the Bruins, they have grown into the most insufferable bunch of crap talking douchebags. I was not only at Fenway for a couple of games, but I was all over the city for several days before the series started. Maybe I just got lucky with my experience in the city for a week. I don't care about their fans. The idea of the names "Burrows" and "Sedin" going on the cup next to Toews and Ben Eager just ain't right. Exactly. Yes it will suck that the only championship that I have on all my friend in Boston will be erased, but c'mon its the Canucks. Really how much more in your face and annoying can Boston fans be anyways? They will probably brag about winning every major sports championship in the last 6 years (with the Pats strangely enough with the longest Boston drought) but whatever.
  16. I'd be willing to look past him being a bad scorer if he could accomplish that.
  17. I'll take a wild guess and say it has something to do with playing amongst terrible baseball players. Also consider that he has hit leadoff most of the time so that means lots of Koyie Hill, pitcher, and a mix of montanez/colvin/campana/whatever not getting on base in front of him. Oh also baseball is a long season and that pace will certainly change and probably soon. Right. It's indicative of him actually hitting where he should have been all along...and being on a bad team. Kosuke has driven in 4 of the 46 baserunners he's seen (0.087), or slightly more than half of the teams' rate (0.161) which is still pretty bad. This isn't about Kosuke being on a bad team..... it's about him being the worst of the worst. Is it? Given where he's batting in the order how often has he come up in those situations where there was someone in scoring position? He's not hitting for as much power as he has the last two seasons so if most of those baserunners are on 1st he's less likely to drive them in since his OPS seems mostly fueled by singles and walks. Well if he isn't hitting for power, shouldn't at least part of the blame be on him?
  18. It never really felt like Kerry was finally back with the Cubs until he got placed on the DL for the first time. Edit: Especially with a blister
  19. looks like 12, but baseball reference wants me to pay to see who.
  20. Classy finish to the game as always Vancouver
  21. Saw this stat tonight.... Fukudome has 6 RBIs in 208 PA. He is on pace for 15 RBIs in 527 PA. How is that even possible?
  22. yay There should be a rule that CSN shouldn't play "Go Cubs Go" on the air after Cubs home wins if the team is 10 games below .500 or more.
  23. Somewhat funny yet not appropriate for tonight: http://i.imgur.com/NeNXE.gif
  24. I believe Buff did as well. I believe he did too. I just read that 5 current Hawks live within a 1 mile radius from one another. The 5 are Keith, Bolland, Brouwer, Bickell and Seabrook.
