  1. How has the entire town of Williston not banded together to boot his ass out of town? Can you imagine a single Williston resident sitting down and opening up his/her morning paper and saying "What's new in the world today?.....Ahh yes, an article bitching about the Chicago Cubs, just what I was hoping for!"
  2. I havent seen the floater pitch since Scruffy Mcgee
  3. It's gotta be. The owners would be committing suicide if they stuck to that offer.
  4. Watch videos of John Wall and/or Mariah Carey throwing out the first pitch and do the opposite.
  5. Assuming the Cubs finish this loss off it will be what the 4th straight time the Cubs have repeated the W-L-L pattern? Yay for .333 baseball. 54-108 over a full season :) Edit: The next game after this one marks the half season mark. We're basically on pace for a 64-98 record, which would be the worst Cubs record since 1980 when they also went 64-98, and 3rd most losses in team history. The last time they were worse than 64-98 was 1966.
  6. Damn Pena is now 4th in the NL in HRs and 9th in MLB. Good to see at least a couple of positives emerge from this season. Now let's ship him out of town!
  7. Dude is having a pretty crappy season down there. I'm guessing him being brought up has something to do with the fact that he has already been called up earlier this year. Warm body, meet Chicago Cubs pitching staff; Chicago Cubs pitching staff, meet warm body. Yeah, I don't expect Rodrigo Lopez to go more than 3-4 innings today so he was needed.
  8. I see SF 13 CHI 7 and I wonder how many INTs Cutler threw.
  9. I will close my eyes and pretend its 2003. That man started the 2nd game of the division clinching doubleheader for the Pirates. We lit him up. Of course a week earlier, he threw 7 shutout innings against us.
  10. I heard he only showed up because the boys mom was a MILF.
  11. It's nowhere near pitchfork time with Bowman. Not at all. In a way these moves are very bold though. I'm not saying trading Brouwer and Kopetzky and our 3rd defenceman who makes $7.5m are particularly dangerous moves, but dismantling just about every role player within 12 months of winning the Cup is rather bold. I feel like many GM's try to hold onto a lot of those types of role players from championship teams for a couple of years because they have proven they can win titles with them. Obviously the Hawks situation is a bit different because they had their backs to the wall and had to dismantle a lot of the team before they stepped on the ice again. But what Bowman's doing in dismantling all but the core of his team and quickly finding role players to surround them is interesting. It will be interesting to see how he fills all the holes in the roster come July 1.
  12. Here are some names they have been speculating the Hawks going after on CSN Brad Richards Brooks Laich Daniel Carcillo Brent Sopel Shane O'Brien James Wizniewski
  13. Im sure they just assumed that they wouldn't win the next 2 games as the trend has been.
  14. Kopecky was an UFA anyway. I would've liked to see him back in a reduced role, but obviously he wasn't in the plans. And as for your last post, I'm betting that we'll be seeing either Sopel or Madden (maybe even both) return next year. Wiz could be a possibility as well. I wouldnt mind any combo of those 3. I had such a love/hate relationship with him but I'd welcome him back with open arms. Getting Wiz back would make me so happy.
  15. Remaining Blackhawks from the team that won the championship 12.5 months ago: (names on the Cup only) Toews Bolland Hendry Hjalmarsson Hossa Kane Keith Seabrook Sharp That's 9 players left from our Cup winning team just over a year ago. And I'm assuming Hendry will be gone too, so we are looking at 8 essentially. That cup team has essentially been stripped to its "core", and now Bowman is trying to build another championship team from those guys. Sure hope it works.
  16. Someone tell Bowman we don't really have to trade all these players away now. Not that Kopetzky is an untouchable by any means but still. I am really interested to see what they do this offseason now. On the surface it looks like they are gutting the rest of the role players from the Cup team and building around the "core" but is this a quick plan or one developped over 2-3 years? I'm not interested in wasting any years of Kane/Toews core to "rebuild"
  17. Hope no one tells the cubs that although this is the first game of the series, its also the last.
  18. McGehee having a .596 OPS and -0.5 WAR gives me an irrational amount of happiness. Well it does remove one of the irrational rants meat head Cub fans like to use against Hendry. Now if Hamilton could just implode we'd be doing alright. I think his well pronounced struggles in day games this year will eliminate a large portion of those meatballs.
  19. Well at least we know we'll win the next one.
  20. Long term we are looking good but switching attention to this year, we have a lot of work to do. Losing Campbell was a good move but hurts the team in the short term. We were already low on depth but losing Brouwer cuts that even more. Anyone know a comprehensive NHL rumor site? I am interested to see who the Hawks are looking at?
  21. Pretty sure he won't count against our cap next year either so whatever.
  22. I was at dinner and missed the first 25 mins but was following on my phone and excited to come back and watch. within a minute of turning it on mexico scores their first goal gah
  23. Repeat of Confed Cup final against Brazil?
  24. 17-33 over his last 8 games, with 7 multi-hit games over that span. Un-real. If the kid showed a bit more plate discipline, he might be perfect. Although each passing day, that one flaw matters less and less to me.
