    I appreciate you saying that. That said, I've been doing this for years. I cant even describe what "this" is but I know when I do it. Most people just ignore me.

    Do you still put an asterisk behind all the HR records after the schedule expanded to 162 games? Either way, just to be extra annoying about it, the Cubs have lost 10 of their last 58 games dating back to last year when they had a lead in the 8th inning or later. If you watched a Cubs game last September or this year, there was a 17% chance you would see them blow a late lead and lose.

    Ali Sanchez started the season on Pittsburgh's roster (in spring training), was cut and the Cubs scooped him up. Has a .900 OPS in Iowa so far

    I'm all for having patience this time of year but Gomes looks pretty washed all the sudden.

    These teams combined for 11 runs total in the first 3 games, so of course the game where we "break out" for 5 runs, they match us.

    One thing that's cool to see is that while PCA isn't necessarily raking right now, he seems to look a LOT more comfortable out there. Like the PCA before his HR against the Astros probably would not have gotten a sac fly like he did yesterday. It seems like the HR allowed him to relax a bit and its showing in his subsequent plate appearances. Could still probably use more development but he seems to be trending in the right direction.

    Agreed, several of the Cubs recent wins since the injuries have felt at least somewhat lucky to have won. Tonight scoring 1 run and getting that play at the plate, Monday getting no hit for 7+ innings and Morel taking a break from his massive slump to homer, the PCA HR game against Houston, the Cubs getting out of several jams in the 2nd game against Houston. Of course you could argue luck is largely the Cubs pitching much better allowing them to withstand a pretty massive team wide hitting slump, and that's part of it. Either way, I feel very fortunate that we've been able to bank these wins during this period. Win tomorrow and its a winning road trip against 2 pretty good teams without several of our best players.

    Part of me agrees with you, the other part of me thinks that Alonso beat the throw by so much that the ump had to have somehow seen something that made him ignore how much later the ball got there.

    I don't think its a stretch to say that Neris is actually pitching worse as closer than Adbert did before getting demoted. But obviously he's only allowed 1 HR and most importantly he's 5 for 5 in save attempts. Baseball is a weird sport lol
