This is my answer -
Agreed. Large market club in a division of small market minnows. We shouldn't be building teams that if everything goes right we can make the playoffs. We should be building teams good enough that if some stuff goes wrong we're still in a good position to win the division.

The Ringer has them at 12 which kind of surprised me. I really don't know what to expect from the Bears this year. 12 wins wouldn't shock me, ut neither would 6. Because of that I think somewhere around 15 or 16 seems reasonable. (omg umfan is talking about power rankings) -
that's not really much of a conversation for me, but I'm pretty down on the Bulls next year lol. I don't think they'll be worst record in the league bad by any means, but I don't think they're a threat to hit the 36ish wins the White Sox will end up at.

Don't think the Cubs playoff odds ever got above 7% on FG so I'm not really that upset about the last 2 games, though I was starting to get a little more emotionally involved. At the end of the day, I thought this was a .500ish team with upside to be a bit better coming into the season. They've taken a strange route to get there but that's basically what they are. I've really enjoyed watching the team get hot the last 6ish weeks even though the expectations of making the playoffs had long gone away in my head. Hopefully the playoff cut line potentially being closer to 87 or 88 wins this season gives Jed some pause when building next year's team and he tries to do something more than "marginally good enough to sneak into the playoffs." I'm not holding my breath though.

I’m legitimately in awe of how bad they are. In a sport like baseball where atrocious teams win on occasion almost on accident it’s hard to believe a team is winning less than 23% of their games. The 2003 Tigers were also horrifically bad but they showed some heart and won 5 of their last 6 games to avoid setting the modern record for most losses in a season. They turned around and amazingly made a World Series 3 years later. I find it extremely hard to believe the White Sox can do the same.

Ok I said I’d pay attention to the playoff standings and allow for some sort of hope if they got to within 3 games and they did so don’t break my heart again Cubs

Ok I think Everton is really going down this time. I know it’s only 3 games into the season but Yeesh. Lose the first 2 games 0-3 and 0-4. Today had a 2-0 lead at home in the 87th minute to Bournemouth and managed to lose 3-2, giving up the final goal on the final play of the match. Pain

I was at the game before that when he hit number 60. Came back from a huge deficit (8-2 maybe?) to win. Fun game but would have rather been at 61 and 62 😁

New fun fact, the Cubs scored 14 runs today despite only having 3 extra base hits. 2 doubles and a home run. Their other 13 hits were all singles.

The Cubs had a 15 game stretch earlier this year where they scored 38 runs from May 12-May 27th.

I just keep finding cool things about this game. It's almost more fun finding out about this game like this instead of following it the whole time although I'm 99.997% sure I'm just saying that because I'm mad I missed it. PCA going 4-4 with 4 runs scored Bethancourt with 7 RBIs Paredes even got a hit! The Cubs went from their catchers basically being a black hole on offense and on defense to all the sudden being the strongest part of the team.

Team record apparently is 48, but set back in the 1890s. We did score 47 runs in a 3 game series against the Pirates back in 2019. 17-8, 14-1 and 16-6. I definitely remember that one and assumed it was the record. Also in 1998 the Cubs and Brewers had a series where both teams scored double digits in all 3 games. Didnt set any scoring records but I always thought that was a fun factoid as I believe its still the only time that's happened. 13-11 Brewers on Friday, 15-12 Cubs on Saturday and 11-10 Cubs on Sunday. This is also the series that Sammy hit numbers 60, 61 and 62

ok well that makes up for blowing the 8-0 lead against the Padres. Or the game where the Pirates walked like 6 runners home in the same inning and we still lost.
