  1. Honestly, I thought good PBP was enjoyable and bad PBP was background noise but Zaidman has taught me that bad PBP can actively lessen my enjoyment of following the game. I was legitimately upset when I realized I was going to be in the car for the 9th knowing that I had to rely on his attempts to describe what's going on during a tense moment. I'm still not quite sure what happened on the double that PCA tried to catch. Was it a HR he brought back in? Was it a catchable ball that he didnt come up with? Somewhere in the middle? Who the hell knows...I'll have to catch a replay.
  2. That was awesome but being stuck in the car having to listen to Zaidman call it ruined some of the excitement. He kept saying that there were 2 outs after Happ's play at the plate. He said it so much that Coomer must have believed him and when they confirmed the outcall he said "ok then, 2 outs now for the Cubs". And it took maybe 10 more seconds until they realized that the game was over and the Cubs had won. Anyways, get better relievers and start hitting again. The fact they keep winning despite the lack of those 2 things is amazing, this team will be good when they're whole
  3. Welp, Neris with a 1 run lead facing the heart of the order
  4. Really tough to watch Busch hit lately. Well all of the offense really I suppose.
  5. The Cubs have gotten the leadoff hitter on in 4 straight innings and in 5 of the 8 innings overall but have gotten a total of 1 run. Frustrating. edit: new life, still have a shot
  6. Amaya started out hitting well but seems to be struggling as he’s gotten more consistent ABs. 0 for his last 15
  7. But seriously I know we focus on the Cubs offensive struggles but the Mets seem like they have some really good pitching. Figured after trading Verlander and Scherzer and deGrom leaving they have like 6 starters all with really nice numbers and that doesn’t even include Senga. What devil magic are they using?
  8. Maybe we’ll be thankful in September when they aren’t all gassed. I don’t know if that’s his intention or it’s the 3rd time through the order thing but for Imanaga in particular he’s never had more than 170 IP in a season.
  9. Imanaga is the greatest pitcher in baseball history
  10. Busch now 4 for his last 33 with 14 Ks and 1 XBH. Need him to adjust to the adjustments sometime soon
  11. Mervis and PCA carrying the Cubs offense
  12. Probably because he’s never hit and has looked particularly awful attempting to. Not enough of a sample size to call his career dead but it is not trending very well at all
  13. This is when baseball drives me nuts. They’re gonna get hot again offensively. It could be today, it could be a month from now. But because it could be today, every day you hope and expect to be the day when they get their horsefeathers together
  14. Remember that one week when Busch was good? edit: wrong game thread
  15. Yeah the lower ratings almost seem like a hedge for a few reasons: -New OC, though we have an idea how the offense is going to run -Rookie QB, even a highly touted one, he could start out slow, he could be CJ Stroud -3 higher volume receivers on the roster, not sure how that's going to break down in terms of targets -Waldron likes to use TEs but how will the breakdown be between Kmet and Everett as he is another prominent pass catching TE -Swift is clear RB1 but the Bears typically like to work in all 3 RBs, and there is uncertainty on how much he'll be used in the pass game with the aforementioned pass catchers. Just a lot of (good) uncertainty which makes it hard to project fantasy studs
  16. The problem with Bote is that he isn't on the 40 man roster. We can probably clear a spot for him but is it worth doing that when Bote isn't exactly even tearing the cover off the ball in Iowa?
  17. Without Tauchman we're down to 14-110 (.127). Yikes
  18. I was trying to think about why I have such a negative perception of Dansby or why it feels disappointing to watch him. Last August 6th, his batting line was .264/.347/.456/.804. He was consistently getting big hits, hitting HRs, having good ABs, playing great defense. We all loved him. However, for the last 49 games of 2023, his batting line was .204/.287/.333/.620 during a stretch where the Cubs blew a great chance of making the playoffs. It wasn't all bad, there were a few big hits in there and ok stretches of games and his defense was still stellar, but overall it was a long frustrating slump. Now in the first 30 games of this season, his OPS is .667. Putting those performances back to back, its roughly 1/2 a season worth of games with ~.650ish OPS. I'm not posting this to say Dansby sucks. He's always been an extremely streaky hitter and assuming his skills didn't randomly plummet one day in August last year, he will get hot again and will seem a lot more valuable. Heck despite a rough start with the bat, he's still been worth 0.7 fWAR, which is 3rd on the team behind Tauchman and Imanaga. But because he's been pretty bad with the bat for so long, it really does feel like he's terrible and frustrating to watch.
  19. How the hell is Mervis this bad? He is the AAAAest player ever
  20. The Cubs are 18-120 (.150) over their last 4 games. Rough stretch for the offense.
  21. Adbert has given up a HR to 9.3% of the batters he's faced this year. The saddest thing about that is that it seems lower than I thought.
  22. I dont know what you do with Adbert at this point. Seemed like he was right on track for rebuilding his confidence in lower leverage situations. This is probably the highest leverage inning he’s pitched in since the demotion and he botched it.
  23. Thanks Dansby! Not gonna help Adbert’s confidence
