Nightmare 5 days upcoming for an offense who has been struggling recently (though maybe showing signs of breaking out again) 1. Freddie Peralta 2. Yu Darvish 3. Joe Musgrove 4. Dylan Cease 5. Jared Jones Jones is a top 75 prospect who has 1.4 bWAR, 2.63 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and the best K/9 and SO/BB in baseball in 7 starts this year Musgrove has been awful this year but had 6 IP, 2 ER in his last start so might be getting back on track. -

The last time I remember the Cubs stealing a late run that they shouldn’t have, the rangers came back and won. Hopefully that’s not the case this time.

Maybe we don’t make a bullpen entirely out of castoffs. It’s worked in the past but when it doesn’t work it has the ability to almost singlehandedly alter or end seasons

Unless I’m counting wrong, I think it’s Imanaga vs Darvish on Monday which is pretty cool. But yeah even though he did ok against those guys in SD that’s not a great draw for a struggling offense

Part of the issue is the offense, which has scored 4 runs or less in 15 of their last 22 games. The Cubs pen seemingly can't catch a break when every game they're needed to get 9+ outs in a close game. They're definitely a bad bullpen but one that could be minimized by winning a game 8-3 occasionally (or losing a game 8-3 I suppose, the Cubs don't do that a ton either). Instead every game is 3-1, 4-2, 4-3, 3-2, etc. It was a similar issue last September when they were blowing all those games. Someone said earlier that it seems like the Cubs lead the league in games where multiple relievers are down because they've pitched too much and there's part of the reason why.
