When is the last time Morel has had a day off? Seems like we’re tripling down on his getting out of his horrific slump by playing him every day and at a critical spot in the order

Kyle Hendricks started the game the Cubs won to win the Pennant and the game the Cubs won to win the World Series. That is all.

Funny thing about the gauntlet we thought we were playing, the Cubs have only faced one team all year that is currently over .500 and that is the 12-11 Dodgers. Then after the Astros, we hit a part of the schedule that I thought would be a bit of a break from the gauntlet but the next 3 series will be the 3 toughest series of the year based on current record, the 12-10 Red Sox followed by the 12-8 Mets and then the 13-6 Brewers. Now of course just because the Dodgers are 12-11 doesn’t mean that they aren’t significantly better than the Red Sox or Mets. Just thought it was funny how that all played out with the teams we played.

For all the talk about wanting to give guys an entire game off instead of PH in one of the DH games, Morel's really one of the guys to play both games? Dude needs a day off badly. Here comes TT with "well actually here's the exact reason why he had to play both games" explained with irrefutable evidence to the point where you feel stupid for ever deciding to comment on the game of baseball. Watch the Marlins and Astros breaking out of their season long funks at Wrigley. Couldn't have waited another week. Sadly Imanaga's first ERs in the MLB and the Cubs trail.

my stance is that bunting with Amaya is fine, hitting Canario is fine, doing both of those things seems like a waste of limited resources.

Normally you just deal with the ****** loss and are ready to watch the next day but I have absolutely no desire to watch game 2 after watching how game 1 ended. Hope the bats come out big and score some runs. ' edit: dammit this was yesterdays game thread

I can’t think of any recent seasons where a few blown games had a dramatic impact on the outcome of the season.

Because Jed hinted that the finish to the season last year with all the late blown games was part of his evaluation and he went out of his way to fire Ross to hire someone who was supposed to help us win 1 run games and instead the new guy is blowing games at an even higher frequency he was last September. I don’t typically put a lot of weight on manager impact, but it’s gotta be a little humorous to him

Yes there are 2 decisions here, the first being whether to bunt with Amaya. Ok you chose to bunt with him and he did a great job getting it down. But it makes no sense to me to sacrifice an out only to put up a guy with massive contact issues to take the biggest AB of the game. And makes even less sense that he was swinging to hit the ball onto Sheffield. I know TT will probsbly have all these rebuttals to make me look stupid but on the surface that’s really questionable to me

Now the pressure is on to win tonight with Hendricks going on Sunday. Not going to tank the season or anything but really don’t want to lose a series to a team that came in 4-15

And this doesn’t include the game where we gave up 6 runs to the Rockies in the 8th to tie it only to win. This team cannot hold leads late they tied a major league record with 5 losses with an 8+ inning lead in September and then came out and did it 4 more times in the first month of 2024, with still quite a few games left to tie or set the new record
