  1. Clearly I said nothing of the sort. He does deserve some blame though. Jump balls have a 0% success rate when your WR doesn't actually jump Hadn't even seen your post when I originally posted. Was reacting to Rivers's histrionics. Ahh my bad
  2. !daerht rehto Now Dave Kaplan hates you. I'm pretty sure he reads nsbb upon occasion. Ergo, he already hated me. I dont know about that. Kaplan has the thinnest skin of any reporter I've ever seen. Maybe any person in general, not just a reporter. If Kaplan did browse NSBB, there is no doubt he would create an account and throw a temper tantrum at the things we say about him.
  3. Interesting. They are doing 75% for marketing their new stadium and 25% to make the team better, so I could see them signing Pujols and Reyes and going with league minimum players. Might have to trade Hanley to keep it under $110 mil or so which would make no sense at all.
  4. I was worried about the Chargers losing and coming into Soldier Field playing with desperation, but I don't even know if that's even gonna matter. They just suck.

  6. Bears record vs. Green Bay since 2010 when wearing standard uniforms: 0-3 Bears record vs, Green Bay since 2010 when wearing kick-ass retros: 1-0
  7. Man the Chargers are awful this year. Vincent Jackson just stood there and watched as the DB went up and intercepted it. He looked like he didnt see the ball but come on.
  8. I'm not even sure I've heard an argument that convinces me that Francona is actually a good manager. All I hear is experience and World Series rings. Plenty of bad managers have that stuff. I do have some smart Red Sox fan friends who would bitch about him a lot. Particularly his lineups at times. I think even the smartest baseball fans bitch about their favorite team's manager. It's just part of being a sports fan.
  9. Some radio guy in Miami is saying that Reyes to the Marlins is close to a done deal.
  10. Has this been posted yet: If the Marlins could afford him, I could see him going there. This Miami thing is rather scary because I'm not sure anyone knows just how high they are willing to let their payroll go. All I've read is that they are willing to raise their payroll "substantially". They are supposedly close to signing Reyes so it may effect things, but if they are willing to go up to 100 million, that means they have about $44 million to play with.
  11. I'm not following. Are you suggesting that that's a problem area, because assuming that Marmol can rebound, the pen would be the one part of this team that would be good to go if the season were to start today. No I was responding to the post above joking that its the Hendry era all over again.
  12. No it doesn't. No it doesn't. No it doesn't. It does not go against what he said. He mentioned prime age for players and really having to look at it when players pass their prime. Like I said, this is Pujols, though. That's not what you originally implied he said.
  13. No it doesn't. No it doesn't. No it doesn't. It does not go against what he said. You don't remember when he called Albert Pujols a douchebag and said no Cardinal scum will ever be on my baseball team?
  14. what about against the 49ers in 06 when we had like a 50-0 lead at halftime? Orange jersey history: 2004: Lost @ Dallas 2005: Won vs. San Francisco 2006: Won vs. San Francisco 2007: Lost vs. Detroit 2008: Won vs. Minnesota 2009: Won vs. Cleveland 2011: Lost vs. Green Bay 2011: ?? vs. Detroit 4-3 lifetime. If you take out the 2004 game which wasn't the same jersey, they are 4-2 Yeah, let's make sure to be scientific and get rid of the year the jersey was a different style. The 2004 jerseys were replicas of a previous jersey they wore way back when which were used specially for Thanksgiving as part of some throwback thing the NFL was pushing for the 2 games. The next year the Bears started the practice of wearing an orange alternate jersey at one home game per year around Halloween, so I consider that the real start of the pumpkin jersey era.

  16. Change the color scheme? Are you kidding me? What are we the White Sox?
  17. Sorry the NFC North is not east coast enough to be a strong division.
  18. Not really. I'm still not sure I believe in the integrity of ratings that measure "clutch performance" and discredit QBs for sacks taken, but it's strangely nice to see Cutler doing well in them.
  19. I forgot about that part. I enjoyed the orange cleats, made it easy to spot him on the field. Dammit the last time we wore the orange jerseys against Detroit we looked [expletive] awful and lost something. Of course Griese was our QB but still. Why can't we go back to those throwbacks we wore last year? They are one of the few throwback jerseys that I like when my team wears them. Also one of the only throwbacks I've ever considered buying. The Blackhawks winter classic jerseys are the only others.
  20. I saw that yesterday, and it did :)
  21. Another ESPN thing. That new QB rating system they created HATED Jay Cutler at first. But he's slowly moving up the season totals. Here is his SEASON standing through each week of the season: 1: 13th 2: 28th 3: 28th 4: 27th 5: 26th 6: 22nd 7: 20th 8: 20th 9: 16th He's now ahead of QBs like Flacco, Rivers, Freeman and Dalton, and right behind Cassell and Stafford. Here is his individual ranking for each week 1: 13th (W v ATL) 2: 29th (L @ NO) 3: 24th (L v GB) 4: 31st (W v CAR) 5: 11th (L @ DET) 6: 3rd (W v MIN) 7: 9th (W @ TB) 8: BYE 9: 6th (W @ PHI) Good stuff
  22. Time for a return to power ranking obsession! -Bears move up from 10th to 9th after a big road win over Philly on MNF on ESPN's version. (Mike Sando had them 6th, and John Clayton had them 14th) -Yahoo sports has them 11th, although I will say that the Jets are the only 5-3 team ahead of them, so if there are 9 teams at 6-3 or better, no complaints. -Fox sports has them 12th, with the Falcons (who we beat by 18), Jets and Patriots (at 6th!?!) as 5-3 teams ahead of them -CBS sports has them at 14th, up from 16th, behind 5-3 teams, Cincinnati, Atlanta, Jets, Buffalo, New England, making the Bears the lowest rated 5-3 team. Also on Clayton, here his NFC North team grades: Packers: A, Lions: A, Bears: C, Vikings: D Also...Eagles: C Not sure why the Bears, who all the experts picked to miss the playoffs and have instead landed themselves a playoff spot through 9 weeks, should get the same letter grade as the 3-5 hugely disapointing Eagles, and 1 letter better than the 2-6 Vikings who the Bears beat by 30 points.
  23. If I wanted to add creedence to your opinion, I'd mention that only 6 teams have played easier schedules than the Hawks so far this year. That said, teams win close games all the time, and go through stretches where they have to grind out a couple of tough closely played games. The fact that we came out on top of most of them is good. Does that mean we are an elite team? No, elite teams like the Hawks 2 years ago go through stretches where they won 5-2 every night. We obviously havent seen that yet. But nothing in the first 15 games has changed my opinion that this team is better than last year. We will know for sure as the season moves along.
  24. Based on those schedules, I could see standings looking like this in 5 weeks: Dallas 8-5, 2-2 DIV (@ TB, PHI, @ NYG) Philly 7-6, 3-1 DIV (NYJ, @ DAL, WAS) NYG 7-6, 2-2 DIV (WAS, "@"NYJ, DAL...3 essentially home games to finish the season) Would be a good finish.
