  1. To clarify, this is for the announcers who decided that 6 Big Ten teams represents 60%. dammit, i wasn't by my computer when i heard this and i really wanted to be the one to post it. that was amazing what's so stupid? it's called the big TEN guys, duh
  2. Just awful red zone offense.....what the [expletive] is Denard doing? Where is the O-line?
  3. Ugh, kick the [expletive] FG
  4. but they're both black
  5. Eh, Johnny Knox is not Hester, but he did make the Pro Bowl as a returner 2 seasons ago. Toub's special teams is more than just Hester (although Hester obviously makes it that much better)
  6. He also loves redeeming himself by being awesome (on the ground)
  7. I'm struggling to understand this point of view. Just a personal opinion that Theo wants to start fresh without Tito. As the article said he is concerned with too much Bostonization of the Cubs, so it would make sense that with a new team he'd want a new manager, especially given his "10 year" theory. Theo isn't going to humor Tito. If he gives ryno the courtesy of a direct 'youre not a candidate' call, then he'd do the same to Tito. Interviewing other candidates is perfectly normal, esp since Theo hasn't done a manager search for almost 10 years. From all accounts Tito has been the one pushing Theo to be a candidate for this job. I just feel like Theo knows what this team is going to be and most likely he knows what kind of manager we need for this situation. Knowing everything there is to know about Tito, it should either be a situation where he is the guy or he isn't. Just my opinion...I've been wrong before.
  8. [expletive] bizarre. Lose to Minnesota, beat Michigan, get beaten bad by Michigan State. This Big 10 season is super wacky in general. Teams go from looking like world beaters to looking like trash in one weeks time. Michigan State beats Wisconsin, then follows it up by getting dominated by Nebraska, and playing a really close game with Minnesota. Then they go to Iowa and dominate them. Wisconsin blows out everyone they face, including Nebraska and then lose to Michigan State and mediocre Ohio State. Purdue loses to [expletive] Rice and gets blown out by Notre Dame, then loses a close one in Penn State, upsets Illinois, then gets blown out by Michigan and Wisconsin beats them by 45 points. The next week they beat Ohio State. Minnesota looks like one of the worst Big Ten teams of all time, losing to North Dakota State in non-conference play, and then get blown out by a combined score of 144-31 in their first 3 Big Ten games (Michigan, Purdue, Nebraska). They follow that up with a win over Iowa and a 7 point loss AT Michigan State. Northwestern loses 5 games in a row including to Army, and 3 consecutive double digit losses to Michigan, Iowa and Penn State. Then they go to Lincoln, Nebraska and win. Nebraska looks awful in losing to Wisconsin by 31, and then allows Ohio State to build up a 21 point lead before coming back to win, then all the sudden they dominate Michigan State and look to be getting it together only to lose at home to Northwestern Meh, I could give examples of every team in the Big Ten. Its just a wacky damn year.
  9. At least this year I have some faith that UM can stop them once or twice on defense.
  10. Yeah this was a Trib article 2 nights ago and discussed a few pages back. I think Theo is mostly humoring Francona here and he is not a serious candidate. I don't think that Theo would "humor" the guy he worked with for 9 year and supposedly has undying mutual respect for, and if he did, Tito would see through it. If Francona isn't a candidate now, he never was to begin with and he'd have known it a while ago and would be long since out of the discussion. True, but if Tito was a serious candidate, why hasn't he been hired already? Theo knows everything there is to know about Francona, so to even interview other candidates tells me that Francona isn't the idea candidate for this particular position.

  13. I dunno. He talks about gut feelings and stuff which is bothersome. And the whole comment about fantasy baseball just screams ignorance to me. I don't think the manager needs to be as statistically inclined as the GM as its their job to play the players the GM brings to them. So if the GM is giving you the right players it shouldn't be an issue most of the time. But to almost completely dismiss it seems unacceptable too. He seems liked he'd be a great clubhouse presence who commands respect and has a great feel for the game. But I'm not sure of Theo and co. will be able to get over their manager being someone who thinks that the statistical analysis that they use to evaluate players and make important decisions is "fantasy baseball" I think the stuff about front runner status is just media BS.
  14. That number should be a lot higher than 0.390%
  15. You mean slugging % right? Nope, not that one either. Percentage of throws that reach the cutoff man without bouncing
  16. You have MacKanin below Alomar?
  17. I gotta be honest, the schedule sets up well for San Diego, although they have to make up a game on Oakland. There is no way Kansas City does anything with that NE/PIT/CHI/NYJ/GB gauntlet they have coming up. When the Bears on the road are the easiest opponent over a 5 game stretch, that's just tough.
  18. Wow ESPN.com's experts are going too far in their hatred for the Bears. They've finally discovered how the Bears respond to being picked to lose week in and week out, so this week they all picked the Bears over the Lions, removing the chip on their shoulder and causing a likely loss on Sunday.
  19. Here is their new team shop page with all the new apparel: http://shop.mlb.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=12337441&cp=12337441
  20. Bill Simmons flipflops on the Bears and now has nice things to say about them.
  21. If there's anywhere it fits it is Miami as you said but it still looks hideously out of place with just about every other teams jerseys.
  22. I thought the bright bold color era was over in like 1997. Those fit right in with some of the worst uniforms of the 90s.
  23. Gotta give Alomar props to obviously stick to his beliefs and not pander to Theo and co. Not sure why he'd interview knowing what the Cubs are looking for. I wish Theo randomly interviewed Dusty just so they could laugh their asses off at some of his responses. If they could somehow record the interview and leak it to the Internet it would be very therapeutic for Cubs fans.
  24. It worked for the Bears
