  1. I'm used to seeing him in red and white so it doesn't really look too odd to see him in an Angels jersey.
  2. This just made my weekend. Wow.
  3. Come on, we are giving up Byrd and Wells and cant even get Votto in return?
  4. There are reports by a couple of sources that the Bulls are not going after Richardson because using the whole MLE would put the Bulls over the luxury tax. If true, I loathe Reinsdorf.
  5. We're the Cardinals going to break even or lose money if they offered $3.4 mil more? Or do the owners just not want to cut further into their profit margins?
  6. Bye bye Deron!
  7. Apparent D12 met with the Russian dude prokerov and Nets GM Billy King yesterday in Miami, a blatent violation of tampering rules. The Magic are considering tampering charges against the Nets and for some reason, the Rockets. The NBA is officially out of control. They should just ban Paul and Howard for life and be with it.
  8. I'd be ecstatic. A .780 OPS would put him 7th in the MLB among qualified 3B last season.
  9. Things change in the blink of an eye in the NFL. One week your offense look anemic and can't do anything right. The next week they find the right formula and things look completely different. I could easily see the Bears randomly get things going and looking like a completely different offense this week.
  10. I just wonder how much money Pujols personally made for the Cardinals the last 10 years. He probably more than made up the $40 million difference and would probably have come close to that number despite declining in the later half of the contract. The Cardinals fans act like the team isn't raking in profit year after year. Most likely they are. They could have afforded this contract IMO. How much money did they save by having Pujols on a team friendly deal the last decade? Where did that money go? I personally think either the Cardinals fans are in denial or do not realize how much of an impact Albert made to the Cardinals every year. The guy wasn't just a superstar, not another Edmonds or Rolen or Holiday. He was an all time great in the making. Him being in the lineup carried some pretty mediocre offenses over the last few years. I don't think Holiday or Berkman have quite the same impact on the offense. I dunno just my thoughts.
  11. If the Lakers were pulling another Gasol trade, it still wouldn't be right to veto, but it's slightly more defenseable. But the Lakers were giving up quite a bit there and really changing the core of their team, not just adding to it. There is a really slippery slope here. If the NBA vetos this trade, whose to say they wouldnt veto a Deng and Noah for Howard trade? Furthermore why wasnt Bostons big 3 stopped? Or Miamis? I realize the NBA owns the Hornets and everyone was ok with it until something like this happens and suddenly it is a huge conflict of interest. Either way it's gonna be interesting to follow this because I don't see this story being brushed aside in the near future.
  12. Dammit. For some reason I thought this game was at home so I was planning on turning it on and watching the last 2 periods. Come to find out its over. Dammit I was really looking forward to watching. At least we won
  13. Remember the whole "theo finds hidden value so let's trust him to make moves that on the surface seem crazy"? The people who are down on this are acting like its a Hendry move. Look I'm probably taking the "sit back and blindly trust any move theo makes" but at the same time, this is move #2 and some people think the cubs have had a disasterous offseason it feels like.
  14. Huh. I wonder if he changed his mind about wanting to play for the Bulls, or if they didn't want him? Well the Bulls could only offer $5 mil so he must have took the money.
  15. New Big East football conference: Boise State Central Florida Cincinnati Cnnnecticut Houston Louisville Rutgers San Diego State South Florida Southern Methodist Man that looks like a crappier Conference USA like conference. Can you believe one of those 10 schools is going to play in a BCS game every year. Yeah Boise State but if they slip, wow. Rutgers is the only school that was playing football in the Big East as recently as 2004. And in the last 20 years (since 1991) the Big East has completely turned over. Basketball: Central Florida Cincinnati Connecticut DePaul Georgetown Houston Louisville Marquette Notre Dame Providence Rutgers South Florida Southern Methodist St. John's Seton Hall Villanova Definitely better than football with traditional powers UConn, Cincinnati, Marquette, Louisville, Notre Dame, Villanova still there. But there are now a lack of championship contenders (besides uconn and an occasional run from those other guys) and the bottom of the conference sucks badly. Would probably have to put them on par with the Big Ten. The top is slightly better than BIG's but the bottom is worse.
  16. I don't know about you guys, but I wish the Cubs kept Hendry. Hendry never left the winter meetings without a deal or two. I'm sorry, I gave this Theo/Hoyer experiment long enough. Letting Ramirez go, trying to trade Garza, bringing back Zambrano. We are a worse team today than when these bozo's took over. And cheapskate Tom Ricketts, under the likely advice of Crane Kenny, is cutting the payroll in half and keeping the rest for himself. And that's not enough for him as he's probably spending the offseason trying to find new ways to cram even more outrageously intrusive ads all around Wrigley Field. I'm telling you, Hendry might have been more interested in being fat and eating donuts than making a good baseball team, but when he was done eating the donuts, he was a wheeler and dealer. It's not to late to pick Hendry up from the nearest cardiologist's office, strap him to a gurney, give him a phone and try to have him salvage whats left of the offseason.
  17. Is this sarcastic font or are you making fun of CT?
  18. HES GONE AND HES NOT COMING BACK PETER. DEAL WITH IT
  19. You missed the rest of the quote. "...with shortsighted moves and no long term vision!"
  20. There's a number of people who are kinda silly about honor and legacy and all that, but it's hard for them to get worked up over 10/250 when all the talk had been anchored near 200 million thus far. Yeah, my Card fan friends are all "I can't believe he was all about the money". None of them is upset that the Cards didn't match. I cant believe they are saying that when the Cardinals essentially had him signed to one of the most team friendly deals in baseball history. That contract probably cost Albert $50 million, which is ironically the gap between the Cards offer and LAs.
  21. Well definitely the 2nd best possibility out there besides him going to the Cubs on a shorter deal. I don't know why but whenever players go to Anaheim it's just kind of blah.
  22. I was just thinking...if the Cubs don't sign Pujols or Fielder, how are they going to get the payroll up to the amount that was expected. Or will they even end up getting there? Could you see the Cubs operating with a $90 million payroll for a season or two before jumping back up when we are rebuilt?
  23. Lowest rated MNF game ever? can't be worse than chargers/jags At least in that one, there would be fantasy owners with Rivers, Vincent Jackson, Mathews, Gates, and Jones-Drew. Don't know who might be worth tuning into watch. Steven Jackson and who else?
  24. Damn DePaul. Up 47-17 at halftime against Loyola. Impressive (for DePaul) even against a shitty Horizon League team.
