  1. Yup, but correct me if I'm wrong, they got a couple other really nice prospects in that deal as well. But yeah I'm pretty sure Rizzo was the centerpiece.
  2. 2014 Cubs: C - Castillo 1B - Rizzo 2B - Stewart SS - Castro 3B - Baez (I know too soon for him to be up) LF - FA CF - Jackson RF - Cespedes (please)
  3. Does Rizzo not make it onto most top prospect lists due to the amount of time he spent with the Padres last year? I looked at 2 recently released top 100 lists (Seedling to Stars and fantasy rundown) and he wasn't mentioned.
  4. Personally, I'll remember it as the year Carlos Pena played 1B
  5. He's also said repeatedly how good of a guy Crane Kenney is.
  6. Agreed. Think about how much they've turned over the roster in just this offseason. We have a long ways to go and will probably be shitty in 2012, but think of how little value our crappy players had, and look what Jedstein was able to get from that. Long ways to go through. This move reaffirms my confidence in these guys.
  7. He'll fail his physical because they discover he has syphillis, which will be used as damning evidence in a sexual assault case.
  8. Gotta admit, this was a good time to trade Cashner. He could end up dominating last year and this will look bad, but if he struggles or even if he's decent but his ceiling becomes a 3-4 pitcher or worse a bullpen arm, his value will never be higher than now. One things for sure, Hendry would have made Cashner an untouchable.
  9. Where does Rizzo rank in top prospect lists? I know BA has him as the #1 Padres prospect, but have there been any top 100 lists released recently?
  10. Wow...will he start the season on the Cubs? Or will they seriously give LaHair a look and try to cut a year off his arb years?
  11. What's this I hear about Starlin becoming a therapist?
  12. He should have gotten at least $10 for taking the record away from that scumbag Bonds.
  13. I hope it turns out that this woman is a rich cougar.
  14. Yeah no one ever talks about Rapelisberger or Kobes exploits in Colorado anymore.
  15. Can we really say that someone with an .812 ops against lefties "mashes" them?
  16. Yeah this is just like a tree falling on my car.
  17. Seriously though, now whenever we bring up the name of our best player among Cardinals or White Sox fans, this is all we are going to hear about, Starlin the rapist. This sucks.
  18. This is all Sorianos fault.
  19. I would absolutely love it if we got rid of Soriano, even if we had to eat most of the remaining deal. It would just feel like a fresh start having gotten rid of a lot of the players that made the last couple of years so annoying and miserable. Part of the reason the Cubs were so unwatchable the last couple of years is because of these guys. They weren't that good, and they weren't going anywhere or giving us any salary relief for awhile. So it was either choosing to watch boring veterans you don't like lose ballgames or just ignoring the team altogether. I would be delighted to watch the Cubs next year if Soriano is gone, I don't care how bad we are. There are fresh faces, young players whose ceilings are, to an extent, unknown and actually have the potential to get better during the year. Granted a lot of these young players aren't all that highly regarded but its a start.
  20. You are joking right? The answer to your question was discussed in multiple posts on the same page, the last coming just 2 posts before yours.
  21. I felt bad for Illini fans though. I felt like that situation set them back as a program. My buddy who is a fan talked proudly of landing Gordon constantly the time he was committed to the Illini. He was their prized recruit that was going to keep the momentum of the 2005 team, remaining a top flight NCAA program even if it was only for 1 year. And if Illinois had a long tourney run that one year, it keeps the recruiting momentum going.
  22. Yeah seriously, I have no idea why they didn't go inside at all. I was thanking them every time they didn't. Indiana shot ~55%, shot 7 for 11 for 3 and took 8 more FTAs and still only won by 2 at home. A wins a win though, especially over a ranked team.
