Yeah McGrady was my first thought when they said Rose was going to a specialist. Rockets fans had a similar feeling that we have with Rose (that it's nothing to be concerned about long term). However for every McGrady scenario there are at least 20 guys who simply have back spasms that go away. I did hear something interesting in a Rose interview the other day. He admitted that back spasms were an issue for him in high school, but he hadn't had any issues with his back since then.

I don't agree with this at all. Especially with regards to Thursdays. For real? Maybe Thursday isn't nearly as packed as the weekends but it's packed enough for McDonalds and Taco Bell to convert into parking lots like they tend to do on busy nights. That's really not that many spots. I'm still confused as to why anyone drives to Wrigleyville for the night unless they're spending the night somewhere. Maybe you should stop going to Barleycorn. Trace late night is the only place I can recall waiting in a line of more than a couple minutes during a non-gameday. Maybe I'm going out early(or late) enough to avoid crowds. Barleycorn, Moes, Trace, sometimes even places like Red Ivy, Casey Morans and whatever the hell Hi-Tops/Harrys is these days. The lines do not start anywhere until at least Midnight though so if you go at 8-9 you experience that. Sadly this is all from recollection as I rarely go out in Wrigleyille anymore and when I do I don't venture anywhere near Barleycorn and Moes. It scares me whenever I feel I'm too old for those places, unless I'm single and want to hit on freshly minted 21 year olds or ones that turn out to be 19 and have a great fake.

As for the weekends, I've frozen my butt off in the cold while waiting to get into bars too many times to count, or have chosen to frequent a bar with no line instead, but still find it packed (such as Red Ivy). There are some places that aren't very packed (Blarney Stone) but then again most of then aren't packed on Cubs game days either.

That would end up being an hour long shuttle ride. That's fine. Put a keg in the back of the bus and the time will fly. I know there are multiple bars that do this for Cubs-Sox games at the Cell and even to Milwaukee already. Maybe they don't do this for a Wednesday night game against the Rockies but they should be able to make some money from Cardinals games, Sox games, most summer weekend contests, and selected interleague matchups.

If you walk around Clark and Addison on Thursday-Saturday nights at any time in the year, the area is packed, and not just the big 4-5 bars - all of them. I'm not saying some of the smaller places wouldn't take a big hit, but if they are smart about it they can survive although they of course wont be banking that year like they would if the Cubs are in town. Id expect some of the smarter locations to set up a shuttle to and from the Cell on game days so people can frequent the Wrigley bars, ride the booze cruise to the cell and then back to Sluggers or whatever afterwards. I don't think Cubs fans will really want to frequent Jimbos or whatever Cell bars that Sox fans go to now, so this would be a good option for those that want at least a small portion of the Wrigley experience if that is your thing.

Lol Kap. It's a 4 year deal but the way I've understood it the Cubs will control him for like 8 years. Sorry I don't buy this one bit. It sounds like Kap got fed info from someone in the Cubs who has to deny a deal because Soler can't be signed just yet. Silly Kap, the Cubs mouthpiece. -
For real? I don't know anything about anything but I'd be willing to bet that Illinois has a crapload more resources they can use for their basketball program and I'd also assume their facilities are much better as well. Marquette plays at the Bradley Center which is shared by the Bucks and whatever minor league teams they have. IIRC, Marquette gets a lot of undesirable dates for their home games because of this. Illinois plays at its own arena designed for college basketball and is the premier team there. Also I would assume the fact that Illinois is a large state school vs. Marquette being a private school is an advantage as well, but I'm not sure why exactly. I dunno Marquette is nice but I think their program is at its ceiling in terms of what it can accomplish (which is pretty nice). I still believe Illinois has the potential to be an elite power in basketball with the right coach. Its close enough that it wouldn't be shocking for Buzz Williams to turn UI down but I think most would expect Illinois to be the better choice.

Assuming he's not in the majors until after April 2014, he won't be a free agent until 2021. 2017 could possibly be the Cubs setting his salary, depending on whether he's a super 2(top 1/6 of service time for players with 2-3 years service time) or not. Gut instinct is that he won't be. So ideally: 12 - 13M 13 - 9M 14 - 2.9M 15 - 2.6M 16 - 2.08M 17 - 2.5M (Just a sign of good faith, could be as low as 1.82M) 18 - arb 1 19 - arb 2 20 - arb 3 21 - FA Prediction: he is going to be an absolute steal by 2015ish.

I really want it to happen but in terms of achievements the Bulls should be concerned about its only slightly ahead of "get Brian Scalabrine a triple double".

The Bears were not a winning team when they sold their PSLs. Unless you count 1 winning season over a 9 year stretch winning. The Cubs with their 20k season ticket waiting list would have no trouble selling PSLs

As long as we beat Sacramento and clinch Thibs a spot in the All Star game, I am fine with that. Really? Who gives a [expletive]? Is that important to see Deng play 38 minutes in that game too? Huh? I am agreeing with the rest Rose contingent. Just using it to comment on the fact that the Bulls have a chance to send Thibs to the ASG tomorrow with a Bulls win (or Heat loss to Indiana). I never implied that we should pull out all the stops to win a regular season game against a team we could probably beat with the bench mob playing all 48 minutes.

Exactly. This is the main problem I've had with this offseason. This is free talent. They don't have to trade players for him, or waste a draft pick, or use up international signing allotment. If the Cubs are serious about upgrading the talent/assets in the organization, moves like this should be a no brainer if you have money to spend. That's what causes me to wonder if the Cubs have all that much money to spend. Obviously they have some since they offered him 6/40, but overall I don't get the feeling that the Cubs are giving Theo all that much to spend this offseason, and that sucks.

Are all the perfect players free agents next year, then? This. I know we all want to give Theo and Co. our full support and give him the benefit of the doubt, but several times this offseason we've discussed our desire for a FA and then point out their flaws when they don't sign with the Cubs. Eventually there's no one left. While I'm disappointed that we haven't really improved our major league ready talent this offseason (besides Rizzo), I still fully believe in the plan even if it isn't run exactly the way I want it to.
