  1. We're to get a phenom pitcher that teases us with potential before suffering a series of injuries that leads to him being out of baseball by his mid-20s? Tank away!
  2. I'm starting to think that Dempster is not going to get a win all year, however meaningless it is. Perfect game anyone?
  3. That ends a 53-17 and 21-0 run for SA.
  4. I'll guess... Red Sox - Phillies Rangers - Rockies Astros - Diamondbacks Blue Jays - Pirates And then by process of default you are stuck with Braves - Tigers and Mariners - Padres. None of those matchups make much sense.
  5. That's what stark indicated...they are probably going to do a rivalry week where everyone matches up with their natural rivals and do the 2 and 2 thing. Obviously there are some teams that lack natural rivals so they will be screwed. Not sure if it will actually be Mariners and Padres since they are so far apart, but I can't think of any other team except maybe Colorado who they could play that's closer (and I'm pretty sure Denver is still just as far away as SD) You can't really do the rivalry week thing because you have to spread everybody's IL games over the entire season. In the Stark article linked above he says that they do actually plan on doing that. But only for about a week instead of 2-3 weeks. It seemed a little fishy when I read it but apparently they have a way to pull it off. There is roughly 30 weeks in a MLB season and lets say 2 series in a week. So if only 2 teams played each other at once for a 3 game series, that accounts for 12 games for each team right? The plan is to play 20 so there will be an opportunity for everyone to play interleague games at the same time.
  6. 3 of the 4 losses on this losing streak have been by 1 run. ugh Overall, exactly half of our losses this year have been by 2 runs or less (12 out of 24 losses)
  7. Boo...so much for that hot streak and the fight to get to .500. We are now at the low water mark for the season at 9 games under .500 (15-24).
  8. I'm not sure who else is on the bench but Reed Johnson against a righty wouldn't be my first choice
  9. please let that become famous in Cubs-Sox lore

  11. Yup, that was an oft-repeated video whenever anyone wanted to illustrate the struggles of the 2004 Cubs.
  12. biggio got hit by a pitch, but i see your point. I guess I forgot the hbp, prob hit some part of Biggio's plastic armor set. I still think that one of the the top 5 pitching performances of all time. I just havent seen someone with that much movement on his pitches have that much command over them. The Astros were an offensive juggernaut in the heart of the steroid era and he made them look like the 2012 Cubs offense. He probably could have been just as dominant against that year's All-Star team.
  13. Riiiight that girl was you admit it.
  14. It's posted in the Wood thread in Cubs Discussions. www.desipio.com also has it posted on their front page.
  15. I have no idea what makes me and most Cubs fans adore Kerry Wood, but that made me really sad and at the same time happy to see him go out like that. I almost wish that Kerry could have finished the inning and gotten in a final AB in the bottom frame.
  16. Probably could have used that runner we left on 3rd last inning...
  17. Oh god, why can't his last appearance just be the 8th inning of a game we're leading or trailing by 5+ runs. No pressure, get all the applause, ride happily into the sunset.
  18. Considering how well we've been bunting this year....I'm gonna have to nix that idea.
  19. Let's bunt for a hit with the go ahead run on 3rd with 2 outs?
  20. maybe rubbing one out in the hot tub or taking a nap long odds say he's eating chicken and drinking beer in the clubhouse. Probably popping pills as well.
  21. lol, but that doesnt mean the decision wasnt stupid. I don't care how bad the pen is.
  22. Well when you have Shark due up next, its definitely a time to stay conservative on the basepaths.
  23. I think 2 and 2 for those makes a good deal of sense. They are all very close in proximity. Well the problem that he points out is that there are 10 teams that don't have natural rivalries, so we're bound to get Padres-Mariners or something. Plus HOW ARE THEY GOING TO DECIDE WHO WINS THE BP CUP??
  24. I'm reading on twitter that there are noticeable sections of empty seats at Wrigley. Is this true for those that are watching?
