  1. It's worldwide man
  2. Dammit, that would be a big blow. I don't trust Jennings on Andre Johnson. Completely understandable if it happens, but it would really suck regardless. I guess the odds are ok though. I'm assuming if the baby comes Friday or Saturday he'll still be able to sneak out and play.
  3. Also, love the Blue Jay Way reference in their State of the Farm quote
  4. Is that a mild shocker (Almora over Baez)? I feel like every list or projection I've seen has Baez #1, and then you consider Baez is likely closer to the bigs and has a better track record of producing in the system, BP would have to think Almora's ceiling is a bit higher than Baez's or that Baez is definitely going to end up at 3B, no?
  5. So recreational use was legalized in CO and WA last night (and denied in OR). What will this mean for the legalization of marijuana as a whole? I know the big issue is still the federal government keeping marijuana illegal and they don't appear to be budging anytime soon, but how do people see this 'legalize pot' initiative looking in say 30 years? Will a larger percentage of the country cave at a state level after seeing the tax money that WA and CO are pulling in from recreational weed ir will it continue to be something only a couple of liberal states adopt kind of like Nevada and prostitution, or will the federal government find a way to enforce their laws and keep this down? Interested to hear thoughts on this.
  6. Interested to see how this team does against a team that isn't among the NBAs worst. Will they play up to the level of competition? I hope so.
  7. Interesting mid-season awards/predictions article on NFL.com http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000091214/article/2012-nfl-midseason-report-mvp-super-bowl-xlvii-picks-more Two people (out of 16) picked Peanut as his DPOY (everyone else picked Watt). 8 of the 16 'experts' picked the Bears to win the NFC North, with the other 8 of course picking Green Bay. All 8 of the guys who picked GB had the Bears winning a Wild Card spot. 6 of the 8 people who picked the Bears to win the NFC North had them in the NFC title game (also one person who picked the Bears as a WC had them in the NFC title game). Two of them had Bears over 49ers, 1 had Bears over Packers, 1 had Bears over Falcons, 1 had the Falcons beating the Bears, and 2 (including the WC guy) had Packers over Bears . Of the 4 that picked the Bears to make the Super Bowl, 1 has the Bears beating the Pats and 2 have Bears over Texans, while 1 has them losing to the Steelers (?) Overall, 7 out of 16 had the Packers winning the Super Bowl, followed by the 3 picking Chicago, 2 picking SF, and one person each picking Houston, New England, Pittsburgh and Atlanta.

    NFL Week 10

Actually, other than Bears/Texans, there aren't really any good matchups at all. Going by ESPN's power rankings, there isn't a single matchup between 2 teams in the top 15 besides the Sunday Night game. The closest is the #14 Lions traveling to #16 Minnesota or #13 Tampa Bay playing #17 San Diego 1 plays 22 2 and 3 play each other 4 plays 24 5 plays 23 6 is on a bye 7 plays 26 8 plays 29 9 plays 28 10 plays 32 11 plays 31 12 plays 25 13 plays 17 14 plays 16 15 plays 27
  9. Daniel Manning talking about the Bears and his departure from the team. Seems like he really liked being a Bear and was quite upset that the Bears didn't try harder to keep him. http://blog.chron.com/ultimatetexans/2012/11/texans-danieal-manning-opens-up-about-facing-his-former-team-on-sunday/
  10. Just did some reading up on Texans fan's opinions of the game this week. Fairly respectful overall. Looks like both teams fans are using the game as a measuring stick. Some selected quotes: Could not find a single meatball to give me something good to bring back here. And this was the Texans Official Site board.
  11. Agreed but it'd be downright scary to know we'd be playing GB, NYG or SF in the 2nd round Bears will need to go through one of those teams regardless. So....which one would you prefer? I vote SF :) I prefer a 7-9 Seattle team again :)
  12. Agreed but it'd be downright scary to know we'd be playing GB, NYG or SF in the 2nd round
  13. Yeah, but that's not "meh." That's more like, "crap we really aren't good." We're probably a .500 team without Rose, or at least I hope we are. i'll leave it up for you to decide whether that's mediocre or 'not very good'. It's annoyingly difficult to get interested at all in this season knowing the expectations have gone from a championship to 'hope we can get to the 2nd round when Rose gets back"
  14. I feel like analysts and announcers usually pounce all over stuff like this and talk about it often. I've never heard anyone talk about this stat other than people on message boards.
  15. Weird...thats the same thing he said last week. Guess a 31 point drubbing didn't affect his views. Well than what about the Bears having the best point differential in the lead? How about 5 of the Bears 7 wins being by 16 points or more (most in the NFL)? Simmons is just like any other analyst in that he stereotypes NFL teams, and those stereotypes are likely influenced by one or two particular games. For whatever reason the Lions and Panthers games have stuck in his head and have now defined the Bears in his mind. I understand that its nearly impossible for someone to have their finger on the pulse of all 32 teams at once, but at least do a little research before you go on the air. Maybe Barnwell can tell him whats up since Bill seems to get most of his NFL insights from him.
  16. Hub also picked the Chiefs to be in the Super Bowl and also indicated he wouldn't have been shocked to see the Titans win in his own smug way Yeah...I used to kinda like Hub just because he had a direct no-bias (at least when discussing teams other than the Bears) kind of style, and he at least sounded smarter than a lot of the other guys out there, but overtime I've come to realize he's kind of an idiot. That's not to say he doesn't have some good insights from time to time but as far analyzing the NFL he's poking at holes like the rest of them. And then there's his own anti-Bears bias, which either comes from his former associations with the team or his desire to rile the meathead fans by saying something unpopular. Whatever the reason, it grows tired and makes him look dumb more often than it makes him look smart. Also, I've noticed B&B always like to bring up his Chiefs Super Bowl pick, and Hub always gets really defensive. Up until about a week or two ago he'd say something like "well we'll see, they still have time to get it going"
  17. I know, that pissed me off because almost every Bears game article is considered premium. Between them and the DH, are they begging everyone to only visit the Sun Times website?
  18. Has anyone else mentioned that the Bears have the best point differential in the NFL currently by a wide margin? Current top 5 teams in point differential (all teams have played 8 games): BEARS: +116 Texans: +100 Patriots: +92 49ers: +86 Falcons: +77
  19. Nothing against Northwestern, but how the heck are they ranked? Who is their best win this year? Here are all of them: @ Syracuse (4-5), Vanderbilt (5-4), Boston College (2-7), South Dakota (1-8 in 1-AA), Indiana (4-5), @ Minnesota (5-4), Iowa (4-5).
  20. Marshall is now at 60 catches for 798 yards and 7 TDs. I think someone else a page or two back posted his projected stats (which is just double everything at this point) but needless to say, Marshall is on pace to become the Bears single season leader in all 3 categories. Here is what he needs to do in the last 8 games Receptions: Currently: 60 catches Pace: 120 Record: 100 (Marty Booker - 2001) Needs: 41 to break Average: 5.1 catches per game Yards: Currently: 798 yards Pace: 1,596 Record: 1,400 (Marcus Robinson - 1999) Needs: 603 yards to break Average: 75.4 yards per game Touchdowns: Currently: 7 touchdowns Pace: 14 Record: 13 (Dick Gordon - 1970/Ken Kavanaugh - 1947) Needs: 7 touchdowns to break Average: 0.9 touchdowns per game
  21. I figured the Texans might be a slight favorite, but I guess the Bears come out on top with the home game bump.
  22. Amazing that the Bears can go 3-5 the rest of the year and still have a fantastic shot at the playoffs. If they go 4-4 the rest of the year, only 2 teams in NFL history havent made the playoffs with what their record would be. Sportsclubstats.com has the Bears playoff odds at 98.8% after today's win, which includes all the 4PM games except TB vs. Oak.
  23. Negative offensive DVOA might be "troubling" but the Bears havent finished with a positive offensive DVOA since 1995. I'm not sure you can compare DVOA numbers from year to year (isn't the number relative to the other teams in the league) but a -12.5 DVOA rating before todays game would be third best for the Bears since 2001 (only 2006 and 2008 were better). I'm guessing it will be a little bit higher after today, despite the good numbers coming against a poor defense.
  24. Yeah....I think it's going to be up to Tice to create a solid "we're getting blown up and cutler has no time to throw" game plan to turn to when we get blown up and cutler has no time to throw.
  25. This isnt actually all that strange but this is the first game in NFL history to end 51-20
