  1. Forgot to point out that in the last 3 meaningful games (meaning it has meaning for at least 1 team) at the Metrodome, the Bears have been outscored 90-37 2011 - Last game of the year both teams eliminated 2010 - Played at University of Minnesota stadium 2009 - 34-14 loss 2008 - 36-10 loss 2007 - 20-13 loss House of horrors
  2. Having several starters out/playing out of position/playing hurt is the first step. Out - Paea, Urlacher, Jennings Out of position - Roach Hurt - Conte, Tillman, Briggs, Peppers (i'm convinced he's playing hurt)
  3. Oh well..i had this one as a loss. In terms of making the playoffs the key games are the last 2 in Arizona and Detroit as they are the 2 easiest
  4. 3rd straight 80+ yard TD drive on the Bears defense.
  5. lol 9 guys in the box to stop the run....peterson gets 50+ yards
  6. It's all noon games for the end of the year, I believe Oh god......already sucking
  7. Gould hurt himself warming up. Podlesh kicking off, not sure what Gould's status is on FG tries. Great
  8. Has the Big Ten ever been as good as it is right now, or at at least at the top? Indiana, Michigan, Ohio State and Illinois all look legit, and a very talented Michigan State team, at #19 and with a neutral site victory over Kansas already on their resume, is almost an afterthought. Congrats Illini fans. I expected to come on here tonight and read sully's 'only my team' ramblings, but jubilant Illini banter is not a bad consolation prize.
  9. Agreed. It's like 2 wins in my book.
  10. At least Purdue fans have their historically dominant woman's team to look forward to.
  11. they only give each player 1 award. so you figure it out, genius. How is he supposed to know that?
  12. Should I be worried about seeing the ESPN crawl say that Dempster turned down 2/15 from the Red Sox because he wants 3 years, and the Cubs and Brewers are said to be aggressively pursuing him?
  13. lol... http://sinbapointforward.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/javale1.gif?w=540&h=360
  14. Oh dear God no... Holy [expletive] hell phew...
  15. If I didn't like the NHL so much, I'd root for the owners to get screwed over because of this and have the league fold.
  16. This is the same thing that happened in the NBA lockout last year. The sides would get together and talk nonstop for a couple of days, there would be leaks that both sides are determined to get a deal done, and reports that progress was being made an as soon as fans started planning how the season was going to look, there would be an abrupt stop to the negotiations with no further talks planned. The deal ended up happening a little surprisingly as they only started talking on the day before the deal was done and I think most fans were distracted by Thanksgiving to follow as closely.
  17. Was just going through Football Outsider statistics a minute ago, and ventured over to the offensive line stats. I know adjusted sack rate is a mediocre tool for evaluating pass blocking, but its the only stat FO gaves us. If you look at the Bears rankings since 2010, when the offensive line really went down the crapper, its horrifying to see the Bears finish 32nd, tied for 32nd and this year 31st in pass blocking. I guess its an improvement because there's a team worse than us this year (San Francisco), and I realize Martz and idiot offensive coordinators who take 8 weeks to make an adjustment for a poor pass rushing line skew the results a little bit, but it just goes into the bewilderment many of us have when thinking about the lack of moves the Bears have made on the line the last 3 season.
  18. Well theoretically that could happen with the current rules as well unless you are counting kicking off the ball to start a half as controlling the ball which you probably are. The fact that this was even made as a serious option is embarrassing to the league. If they were ever going to do something like that, I would suggest limiting the 4th and 15 option thing to inside 2 minutes in the 4th and on kickoffs to start the halves. That would account for maybe 95% of all onside kicks that are made today. Maybe 4 minutes left instead of 2, but at 2 mins it would go along with all the other special rules that take place inside of 2 mins. Still incredibly dumb though
  19. Regarding the Urlacher injury, where do you guys stand on the issue of weakening 2 positions by sliding Roach to MLB and have a backup at OLB vs. leaving Roach at OLB where he's played all year and subbing someone at MLB?
  20. Thursday, November 29 Denver at Oakland 7:20 PM Sunday, December 2 Chicago at Minnesota 12:00 PM St. Louis at Buffalo 12:00 PM Dallas at Cincinnati 12:00 PM Kansas City at Cleveland 12:00 PM Tennessee at Indianapolis 12:00 PM Philadelphia at Tampa Bay 12:00 PM Baltimore at Washington 12:00 PM Atlanta at Carolina 12:00 PM NY Jets at Jacksonville 12:00 PM San Diego at Pittsburgh 12:00 PM Miami at San Francisco 3:05 PM Arizona at Seattle 3:25 PM New Orleans at NY Giants 3:25 PM Detroit at Green Bay 7:20 PM Monday, December 3 Houston at New England 7:30 PM I just wanted to mention the story that Goodell has made a proposal to eliminate kickoffs from the NFL. I realize that kickoffs are the most dangerous play in football but what the hell. I'm sick of Goodell making these drastic changes to the league in the name of safety then turn around and double the number of Thursday games an allow 4th rate replacement refs work for an entire month. He is without a doubt a walking contradiction. This guy is such a horrible commissioner.

    NFL Week 13

From Deadspin...the 3 week career of Ryan Lindley:
  22. Guys, I'm pretty sure its called "Rule V" *ducks*
  23. if you make the assumption that this plan works perfectly and we have the best organization in baseball in four years, we'll be okay with basically anything. that isn't particularly likely, though. that's a good point. I should revise that to say that if the team's headed in the right directon when he leaves, and the team is clearly better off than it was when he started here, I won't be that upset if he leaves. I feel like the true value of Theo is setting up the organization to get into that position, rather than putting the final touches on a potential contender.... ....which is ironically what he did with the 2004 Red Sox

    NFL Week 13

It's probably something along the lines of having the ability to quickly process a lot of information, and still come up with the right answer in spite of that short time frame. Example: let's say you have 100 people who can get an A on a given test. How many of those A's turn to B's if you put a time constraint on the amount of time to answer each question. That might be an analogy for college versus pro defenses. That's an interesting thought. It could explain how some QBs seem to have less physical tools than the top of the line QBs but churn out decent to good careers, and others are blessed with immense physical tools (Jeff George, Ryan Leaf, etc) but never figure it out and quickly becomes backups or are out of the league in a few years.
  25. Lou Holtz, Digger Phelps, Michael Golic? I'm jumping into this convo without knowing anything about it so don't mind me. Please don't. You bitch about me discussing ND 2 days ago and then jump into a discussion with frankly a stupid addition. And I didn't bitch at you for discussing ND, just for flying off the handle whenever ND haters riled you up. Don't assume that everyone that posts here shares your crazy angry reactions. At no point has my blood pressure increased or have I been throwing things in anger. I'm mostly laughing at some pretty dumb comments. You have a weird way of showing your level headedness then because half the posts about college football this year are you responding to every anti-ND quote as if its your duty to defend the honor of ND. You certainly approach things differently than Andy. Anyways, this is getting much farther than I ever intended it to go. I respect you as a poster and think you are a valuable member here, I just couldn't resist making a snide remark about how frustrated it seemed you were getting whenever ND was brought up. Didn't mean to start a war/burn a bridge with you.
